I have $170.00 roughly...which card?

On eBay I do all of my hardware shopping....also at NewEgg.com

I want to buy a video card with 256MB...I have about $170.00

What card should I get? I know my options are limited.
Do I go Nvidia or ATI? What runs HL2 best? Doom3? Thief3? etc...

Any reccomendations would be appreciated. Thanks! :smoking:

For ~160$ you can get a 9800Pro (128Bit/128MB) and for ~195$ you can get a 9800pro (256Bit/128MB).

There is not a Nvidia card for 170$ on AGP that would be better than ATI's cards.

So I don't want to get a cheap 256 MB card...the 9800 pro, 128 MB w/ 256 bit card is the way to go?

if you want 256mb memory you either going to have to get a terrible 9200 or a high end card that costs about twice as much.
A 9800 is good choice for now, though I reccomend saving anouther 30 dollars and getting a 6600GT.

6600GT is PCI-Express for now.
If you want to wait an unknown amount of time before the 200$ AGP version is released you would be getting a card that performs about the same as the 9800XT. Better and worse, depends what you are doing and what game.
The 6600GT is more attractive on the PCI-Express platforms.

9800Pro is your best bet for today.
