Doom 3 is a LONG LONG game and will have you on the edge of your seat the whole time while you are playing it. So I would have to Say Doom 3.

just save yourself some cash and get this instead

I would say Doom3, but that is because it runs really well on my PC and I can't wait for the total conversion mod, The Dark Mod, for it coming soon. Its a Thief mod using the Doom 3 engine and it looks ace!

Didn't really care for Quake4 that much, but then I only played the demo.

HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAA
Buy neither. Instead, buy BF2 or something :p
If you really have to choose between those two, I'd go for Quake 4. Much better gameplay tbh.

Oh and LOL @ CptStern

ok ..doesnt mean you cant wear that shirt does it?

Ouch, tough one. Well, sorta.

Basically they both look good, if a little bit plastic. Doom 3 is more horror, more enemies in cupboards and its very, very linear in terms of enviroment. That said, the first few hours are fun, after that it grates. Badly. The story is very thin, but some points I found myself enjoying it. Its not in any way scary mind.
That said, if you get Doom 3 you can get ROE - an expansion that was better than Doom 3 itself.

Quake 4 is an average shooter with again, nothing in terms of enviroment variety but it does have better combat, in the fact that its more action focused, rather than horror. Again, crap story, a nice shotgun, and some ok to crap boss battles.

The only real reason its tough is because, well, they are both damn average.

Quake 4 if you prefer fast combat and lots of action.
Doom 3 if you prefer horror (well, crap horror anyway) and less 'countless enemies' action.

That said, if I was to be trapped on an island for a month or so, I'd choose Quake 4. Down to you KngHenry.

What is so funny? It really is a long game. And some parts will scare the shit out of you. That is if you are playing at night time with the lights off and have head phones on.

Honestly, I was practically yawning at the end of the game. I probably got about 4 actual scares, and all the rest was simple ammo hogging and looking around with the flashlight, then changing to your best weapon and blowing the crap out of the enemy.

Yeah, well I did that, and it simply wasn't scary. Alot of people did actually find it scary but to me it was more dull than anything.

Save your money and wait for something newer to come out, my opinion. (I'm assuming you dont get $50 all the time)

Depends, if you like your games slightly scary and jumpy, but with a good atmosphere and monsters get Doom.

If your after straight blasting action, which hardly ever lets up, against some pretty cool enemies, in, my opinion, some pretty well designed levels and locals, with a squad who can actually help you, rather than stand around and get in the way, or stand at a corner and get shot, then go for Quake 4.

If it was my choice, I`d buy Quake 4, but definately get Doom 3 as soon as you can.

Both good games, to hell with the naysayers.

I think they were both very very dull. No innovation seperates doom 2 and 3(besides graphics).same goes for Quake 2 and 4. Both had really stupid weapons, except Doom 3's revamp of the plasma rifle. But iff I had to choose,I would say Doom 3. I say this because Doom3 has much more scares, cheap scares(BOO! jump around the corner scares),but scares none the less.Doom 3 also had cooler enemies. And the PDA videos were rad such as the weapon demo vids. They deffinetly put alot more work into Doom3.

$50, you should be able to afford both games, unless your local is a rip-off
I am surprised noone has said I should get both :O

Go with DOOM 3. I started playing it again and I'm really enjoying it. I love the atmosphere and design of the game. Not to mention that the graphics are still very beautiful. :)

Both games are really entertaining and reminds alot of eachother. But If you have'nt played The Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay yet, you really should. You will for sure not regret a single cent if you buy it...

Damn, I need to get Riddick!

And I've never played Q4, but Doom III was a lot of fun in my opinion. It was indeed quite long, but still a blast.

Answer is obvious.
Barbie Girl in London!
Tons of Gameplay!
Photo-Realistic Graphics!
Will make you question your sanity!

I thought Doom 3 was a better game. It had great atmposhere with awesome ambient sound and I loved the PDA stuff (Although they sucked compared to System Shock 2's PDA entries). Quake 4 is just a fragfest, not much atmosphere there, although it does have some cool (and gross) visuals. Plus you get to see Hell in Doom 3, which is a major plus. But also look into F.E.A.R. if you don't already have it.

Neither.

Invest in BF2 or Guild Wars. Or save for Quake Wars. *evil laughter*

I hardly think a gay or straight man would wear that sort of trash.

For $50 you can get Doom 3 and the Resurrection of Evil expansion. I would go with that.

I concur with waitint for Oblivion.

Forget the games. Buy yourself a few books about common decency.
