Here's my dilema. Why the hell are the companies stealing money from us?? You pay a cable or satellite company to watch TV in HDTV (if you have an HDTV). Unfortunatly the companies say "oh we can only transmit 5 HDTV channels because of the large bandwidth usage."

NEWSFLASH!!!!!

Lets see: If HDTV signals are DIGITAL signals, you can UPSCALE the normal TV channels to HDTV channels IN YOUR OWN DAMN HOUSE!!! How?? Convert the analog TV signal to a digital signal (which is done by cable companies all the time with digital cable and also with satellite companies), and then transmit the signal via component cables from the UPscale box to your HDTV and BAM!! HDTV for all channels.

Some people are gonna doubt that but there is something that does that already. Ever heard of Upconverting DVD players?? Hmmm?? It's a normal DVD player with a converter that converts normal DVD playback into HD DVD playback. Why not the same for cable or satellite signals..because the companies want more money.

Now...for HD Gaming. Ever wish you could hook up your Dreamcast or PS2 to your HDTV and have HD for all your games...use the same method as the DVD players use..upconverters. If I were to start a company up, what I would do is create one box (like the company Pelican makes) and this box would be specially made for HDTV's only. What it would do, is take your cable or satellite signal and gaming devices and your DVD player and upconvert them to an HD signal (using 720P and 1080i). Then you could actually get some real use out of your HDTV. I hope somebody makes that someday.

HEHE sounds alot like my thread brother.Down with HD ! Im goin to my great grandfathers house and taking his black and white tv and putting it in my room!

Well first of all upscaling is the same thing as expanding a digital image. Since no extra information was there in the first place it does not look nearly as good as true HD. The DVD player is simply enlargening the image using a few techniques which does not make a 480i DVD look as good as 720p footage.

Which do you like better? HL2 at 1600x1200 or 800x600 blown up to fit your screen?

Second, it does require a large boost in line bandwidth to transmit HD content through cable or satellite. Having multiple family members who work for a large cable company, I have seen a lot of information on their implimentation of HD channels.

Besides, you don't have to buy any of this HD tech, it is simply avaliable for those who want it.

Also most HD TV's do upscale content to the TVs ideal resolution.
