I have a problem

Sometimes when I start my computer, I get the following message:
"WARNING: Dell's Disk Monitoring System has detected that drive 1 on the primary EIDE controller is operating outside of normal specifications. It is advisable to immediately back up your data and replace your hard disk drive by calling your support desk or Dell Computer Corporation."

Can someone interpret this and tell me what this means? :cheers:

sounds like drive failure is coming, get a new drive and/or backup that one ASAP!
So, if its under warranty --- CALL DELL, NOW!

if not, get your PC to the doctor, or dive in yourself..
come on in, the water is shallow, a HD replacement is a piece of cake..

- Is your harddrive making funny noises?
- Have you run scan disk to see if data is corrupted or anything else abnormal?
- Have you backed up your data (on to a CD-R)?
- Are there any other warning messages that pop up?

You can try going in to your computer and making sure the power connection and the IDE cable is securely attached to your harddrive. That may fix the problem. Otherwise, it sounds like your harddrive may be failing.
