So,after a long time,I've edited my triggers.cpp file the right way. Now how can I make it work? Place it inside a directory?

I believe you have to compile them. However, finding a compiler that doesn't cost a fortune, that works with Half-Life 2, and that has instructions on how to use it to compile for Half-Life 2 is a major pain in the ass. If you can afford the .NET 2003 / M$ Visual C++ programs, then you get one of them. They are meant for Half-Life 2 (or the other way around). At anyrate: It's what Valve used. Now if you're like me and you don't have that kind of money, don't wish to pirate, and have discovered that most free compilers are either incompatable or have no instructions pertaining to Half-Life 2 modding-- You're still screwed.

So. We're back to that free compiler thing. (Don't bother me with the M$ 2005 Beta - First: It's a beta. Second: It expires in March.) Anyone know something worthwhile? (Or want to add their 2c about 05-Beta.)

Blah.

holy ####! :O
Thank you very much Faulk_Wulf,that info is gold to me. I'll see what I can do for that .NET 2003 / M$ Visual C++

if anyone of you spots a compiling guide for HL2 somewhere, please notify the rest of us here, please!

Couldn't people get the ms press Visual c++ .net deluxe learning edition. I think it comes with a version of visual c++.net ide included.

0735619085 is the isbn and its about £60 i think. If you're serious about modding it might be a good investent.

I'm in serious need of someone kind enough to compile it for me

VS C++ 2005 Beta compiling tutorial

I've successfully compiled with the help of that, was alot of minor things that I overlooked.

Yes its a beta, and yes it will expire. But who cares? *EVERY* program now a days is a beta, even HL2 (how many fixes have been made since release? HL2DM anyone?). I havent encountered any bugs yet, its working great. Sure, I will hop on to the next good compiler that works (personally I want to use Bloodshed Dev C++, lol), but it'll do for now.
