I would recommend you get into the Industry somehow; reviewer, programmer for a tiny company, whatever. I'm not sure how relevant 'video-game universities' would be, but I'd assume they do get assessed for outgoing graduates for local games companies. Where are you? Which Country? Australia is good with colleges but lousy with decent companies, if you're there (I am!)...

I'm younger than you though, so I don't see why you'd take my advice.
