I just Downloaded steam and its not working

I read your F.A.Q. bout steam and when i see task manager steam isnt even present then i click the shortcut again i get a message sayin steam is already running when its not i dont know what the hell wrong w/ it

What version of Steam was it that you downloaded?
And what filetype was it?

after the install it checks for updates then after its done it disapears :flame:

i just downloaded the full version and it still does the same thing iclick the shortcut it scans for updates then *poof* then i get nothing i click it again it says steam is already running and i can only rum one at a time then i scratch my head cuz steam is no where to be seen

Twista for some pple Steam is tricky and a painful process.. but.. heres some tips for u that worked for me..

when u run Steam for the very first time after installing it, go into the settings and get rid of that "run Steam when Windows loads" option..

another thing to do is to open ur games list, right click ur games and go to properties.. (i noticed that for me, every time i did this, Steam would start updating bits and pieces)

also try changing ur Steam skin a few times as well.

and lastly, the other thing that really helps is when u log out of Steam and then log back in.

these things have worked for me.. and i have no real explanation for them.. but it certainly did not hurt me to try them.. and hopefully they will work for u.
