just started playing CS:S (due to BB connection) and guess what? I SUCK. I always thought I was pretty good at FPS because I play and beat all the usual FPS SP games but on-line gaming is like starting all over again. I won't give up because it's still hell fun and i'm sure i'll improve with practice, but till then my noob status remains, well and truly owned!

I suck too but you know what, its not whether you suck or not its the fact that your having fun!
 
hey thanks for the support, that's what I plan to do (have fun), and logically I know that EVERYONE starts as a noob.
 
i've been playing CS for 4 years now.

and i still suck ass at it.
 
In 1.6 public servers I usually average 4-1 ratios, but in CSS I have a hard time pulling of 1 to 1. So I suck TOO!!!:)
 
I've only just started to play it while waiting for DoD:S, but to me it seems so remarkably random =/ I'm like the fagsupport kid, but I'm not crying ^_^ I put the crosshair on the guy and sometimes he'll die, other times i'll die lol. If there's a trick to CS, I certainly haven't found it yet! :D
 
Just remember, short bursts. Aim for the lower head/neck. AND USE TACTICS! If you can go around and get behind someone, do it. If you know someone can do the same thing, be ready for it and catch them in the act (But make sure you can also get em if they take the more obvious route).

Also, try all of the guns atleast once. You may find you're really good with one or the other, and horrible with the rest. Maybe you're more of a shotgun kinda person, or maybe you'd be good with an MP5.

I like to think of myself as being atleast half decent in CS Source, so maybe my advice'll turn out to be half decent as well. Oh, and practice. Alot.
 
It's great to see this new game has attracted new players. :D

Just keep at it. Try to learn the maps as quickly as possible. Saves you lots of lives.

it doesnt matter if you are teh suck or you're super clutch , as long as you're not a fruit ass cheater you're good in my book.
 
I suck too! Especially last night when I was too busy goofing around with my custom made sprays (made by Mr. redundant) hehe
 
Good to hear you like the game even if you aren't the the most mad-skilled player around yet! :) Just keep on playing, spectate good players when you're dead, you'll learn a ton. Knowing the maps and thus knowing where and when to expect enemies to show up really helps a lot. And trust me, the real fun begins if/when you choose to join a clan and discover the joys of proper teamwork and tactics. :) If some of your friends are playing CS too, try forming a team after a while and play some matches against someone else. It really is "something completely different", as said by John Cleese, compared to playing on pubs. :)

EDIT: Oh, and read this too, it's about the netcode. http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showpost.php?p=833469&postcount=22 Correct network settings really make the game a lot smoother and more accurate. If you indeed do change your network settings (ie. rates) and things get all jerky/warpy, cl_smooth 0 should sort it out.
 
Weird... i was not much good at CS (1:1, ratio, maybe less), but in CSS i'm much better (4 or 5:1 approx)

Seriously though, if you want to practice play HLDM it'll improve your aim and reflexes ten fold.
 
Lots of practice usually makes you better :) I've been playing since beta 1 and see myself as an experienced cs-player. I still suck every other day. Some days you get the "feel" for it, some days you just plain suck :) It's still fun, and that is the most important thing.

yeah.. went on a hldm server... 2 kills to 24 deaths... those guys are 'twitch' masters lol.. nothing more skilled than double-shotgunning me to the head while longjumping past me moving in the wrong direction :D

I still haven't mastered the long-jump/gauss-jump/crossbow combo, I can't switch weapons and aim that fast!

yeah cs source seems so different to cs i can come from cs having score of 10/0 or like 30/3 then go play cs source and just die,die,die. but that doesnt matter cause i cant play cs source longer then 10 mins cause my pc restarts :thumbs:
but i dunno maybe everyone sucks at cs source cause of the shocking hitboxes. I wonder if valve had used hitboxes like in farcry where they are implemented into the mesh of the model would they have got a more stable hitbox online? Cause at the moment you may be aiming like 1m away from a players head and still get a headshot WTF :bounce:

yea, i didnt play cs before either, and its hard because i usually play in clan rooms with people that played cs for years.

So...i just have fun with it most of the time, and nade kill hostages

Haha! Perrkele is actually a Finnish swear word, if you remove one of those Rs. It's often translated as damn, but it's actually much stronger than that, it basically means the devil. I haven't got a clue why THAT makes you hungry, though... :)

But continuing on a food related topic... I was cooking food while browsing these forums and after reading your post, I went to take the food out of the oven. I was laughing so hard at your post that I fumbled with the kettle holders or whatever they are called, and actually ****ing burned my hand! Bastard! :sniper: :)

what kind of power supply do you have ch0ke?
I had a 350w PSU and CS:CZ was enough to kill it..
now I have a 500w($50,coudn't resist) and no random crashes
with games now..
just a thought..

I did suck when i first started to play. But then i kept playing and playing, and now, i don't suck as much :p
 
im not so great either.. depends who your playin, on average i get a few more kills than my deaths, but then i do have days where i cant kill anyone.. and i get so annoyed that i sulk for a few hours lol

yeah did that the other day myself, got a few kills in the morning, was feeling all proud, then in the afternoon thought it was time to get my frag on.... think i ended up with 1:23 ratio or something equally lame.... sulked all night, then broke up with my girlfriend.... felt heaps better!!!!

Dude, cs isn't supposed to make YOU break up with your girlfriend. SHE is supposed to dump YOU because of CS. You got it all wrong. I might even say that you got pwned! by CS:S.

lol, I have to come clean I was only kidding about the g/friend thing, she rocks and loves it when i'm "playing the computer" (her words!)
she gets the TV all to her self - relationship bliss!

the game is totally different. you can't adjust your spray as well as you can in 1.6
 
I haven't been gaming online seriously since Quakeworld Team Fortress, so I'm pretty hopeless at the moment. Best I've managed so far was something like 15:4 at one point, most of the time I'm lucky to break even.

The problem appears to be that I go spastic when I get surprised in close quarters, gets impossible to pin head shots on people. Maybe I'm getting jittery in my old age. I'll keep trying, but I don't think I'll ever have my TF glory days back again.
 
Hehe, I own on de_dust but since I've never played any of the other maps I expect to suck. I did get some 5 kills on Italy but I will play all day today... no school!
