I don't know if this has been posted vefore, but what hasn't?

Anyway, I played Portal: The First Slice today and I head the
"Remember the Aperture Science Enrichment Center Bring Your Daughter to Work Day is the perfect time to have her tested" line

Then I thought, why would GLADoS say that if Chell isn't a person that works at Aperture Science, which lead me to believe something.

Chell could possibly work at Aperture Science and have a daughter somewhere. Which could possibly be the lady that the person told Alyx to prepare for.

What do you think?
 
I doubt that many of those announcements are actually personalised. Are you saying that, uh, Alyx is Chell's daughter? Could you clarify that?

And OP, that didn't make any sense. Alyx's mom is Eli's wife, and Eli's wife couldn't have been Chell.

If Chell has a daughter, then she could be the girl that Alyx was TOLD to PREPARE for.
 
It's an interesting idea that Chell has a daughter who she brought to the "bring your daughter to work day", however GLaDOS clearly states that Chell is an "unlikable loner" and has no full time job.

I think he's means when G-man said "Prepare to Unforeseen consequences" though I highly doubt, Chell is the consequence.

No, I'm not saying that Chell brought her daughter there for that day, I'm just saying that she might have a dughter, and could possibly work at AP.

How do we know if GLaDOS is lying or not? Could she be reading fake things? We don't know for sure if she's an unlikable loner...
 
There is no reason not to believe GLaDOS on this point, she is after all speaking to Chell herself so even if she was lying it's rather blantant.
Besides once you start eliminating fact's for no reason you can pretty much make up whatever you want.
 
I think the strongest theory is that Chell was a little girl when GLaDOS went batsh** crazy. The "bring your daghter to work day" line's are reffering to the day when GLaDOS went batsh**.
 
Maybe GLaDOS was once a person, who had a daughter (Chell) but was hurt or something and turned into a supercomputer.

Anyways, your theory lacks any sort of backbone, so it really just collapsed into itself as it came out of your mouth... It was stated in Half-Life 2 that Alyx's mother is named Azian,
and "Unforeseen Consequences" is believed to be about the huge ending in Ep2.

And before anybody says anything, sexual innuendo is very immature...

I don't trust anything like that.
 
I've said this before, and I'll say it again.

Some people spend hours thinking of theorys for the Half Life story, but what if, in the end, they're all made up as it goes along?
 
Chell is likely a criminal. Unforseen Consequences could be anything, not a person. She was not an employee, but a test subject. Worthless.

Alas, no Biting Pear of Salamanca: the board admins knocked some demerit points off me because they thought it was spam.

However, I really, really don't think Alyx and Chell are in any way related.

As for evidence of Chell being a criminal and worthless, all we have to go on are GLaDOS's statements. Frankly, I think she's just trying to mess with your head, and nothing she says can be trusted.

As the for evidence behind your theory. It's negligible, and there really is little to be said on this matter until Episode Three comes up, as I'm sure what's in the Borealis will answer some Portal questions, as well.
 
The train of thought for your theory seems to come off track from what I see the take your daughter to work line as.

I think that Chell was a daughter brought to work. Because in the history of Aperture Science, it says Chell was first turned on during the first annual Take your daughter to work day.

Hence the "is a good time to have her tested" part of the line fits with Chell's being tested.
