Well I?ve spent about two weeks doing everything I can to try and resolve this problem. I?m hoping there?s someone out there in Half-Life2 world that can help me out. Or if there?s a number I can call for Valve or Steam support, that would be fine too!

Here?s my problem. I am using Verizon DSL with a Westell 327w modem/router Model No. D90-327W15-06. I run Windows XP Pro. SP2. I have Zone Alarm 6 and Norton Anti-virus 2006. I was able to log on to my Steam account until Jan. 5 when I stupidly upgraded from IE6 to IE7. I haven?t been able to get back onto Steam since. I uninstalled IE7 and returned to IE6, but I still can?t get onto Steam. All I get is the steam updating window, which cycles three times, and then gives me the ?Steam is temporarily unavailable, please try later? routine.

Any suggestions would be welcome. I understand this may take a while to resolve.

Thanks

Try deleting your Clientregistry.blob :
Exit Steam. Delete the clientregistry.blob in the main Steam folder and the platform.gcf file in the Steamapps folder. But make a backup of them first by copying them in another folder! Now restart Steam.
