And then she disappeared.

I'm talking about the good old bug-ridden game called Morrowind (xbox). I was in the Halfway Tavern in Pelgiad, and I was talking to the theif kajit with the name beginning with an A (sorry, the name escapes me). She asked me to become her friend, and I accepted. After exploring a few dialogue trees, I quit the conversation, checked my journal, and when I looked back, she was gone.

Is this some kind of bug, or is this supposed to happen? I couldn't get her to come back through any means.

It's a metaphor for life, she won't be back
Oooh, burn.

And here's what I've found:
Q: Sharn Gra-Muzgob/Ahnassi/[insert NPC here] has disappeared from my game!
Some NPCs that are a part of quests have a nasty habit of disappearing when you need them most. This appears to be a game bug that affects quite a few people, and the only remedy is to summon said NPC via the console. Here is the syntax for doing so:

placeatpc "sharn gra-muzgob",1,1,1
You would replace sharn gra-muzgob with the name of the NPC you want to place in the game world. This will place the NPC almost right where you are standing, so if you want to maintain the integrity of the game world and keep it as original as possible, use the console command when you're standing where the NPC would normally be standing.

Note that this actually places a new copy of the NPC into the game world. If you have reason to believe that the NPC is still alive and simply stuck somewhere, you can try the reset actor console command which will move all actors in your current cell to their original locations. Type this into the console:

Looks like the xbox version has beaten me over the head with a virtual baseball bat yet again. Time to redo everything I did today...

 Wow, this was something big in your life now eh?

yeah.... pc verison=100000000000 time better than console.

if you got the xbx goty edition, they included those patches and whatnot.

Yeah, at the time, I was pretty ignorant, and was just looking for a good Platinum Hits title to buy. At least I get to play it on my nice big TV in a nice big chair.

Yeah sometimes morrowind can be annoying such as when i feel greedy and steal random stuff then realise its too heavy for me when im in the wilderness, drop it and then later on find out its a quest item.
/me summons object :(
