The waiting is killing me. Especially now since i found out that i will have to wait another month until i can play the game. My birthday is the 25th of October and thats when I'm getting my new computer. Now then the computer i have right now would be able to handle HL2 but it would look crap and likely ruin the whole experience of my first time playing. So i have decided to wait that extra 25 days to play it. The thing is though, is that Ive pre ordered it so it will arrive on the 30th (it gets dispatched on the 29th). That means i will have to sit 25 days with a picture of Gordon Freeman with the HL2 lamda symbol next to him, staring at me. Its a good job I'm already patient because this will be a true test of it.

25 days im going to have to last. Then again i am actually quite good at being patient and such things. Really im a very patient person.

Its my 18th Birthday and although im having a party, the computer basically is THE present im getting. So getting it early would spoil it.
 
WAIT AN EXTRA 25 DAYS WHEN ITS RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOU!! That would take a level of self controll that I must say is well beyond anything I could possibly ever hope to achieve. I would go to sleep at night and im betting I would start to hear it talking to me, taunting me to install it and play it.

I wish you luck if you plan to go through with it though. :thumbs:
 
Oh i do plan on going through with it. Besides anticipation is half the fun. I bet the experience will be so much better having waited that extra time, when i didnt even have too. Im also going to avoid looking at too many screenies and stuff.
 
I don't know why but this sounds like a smokers annonomis meeting. (not that Ive ever been to one)

Going 25 days without HL2 even though you could play it at any time, sounds just like someone trying to go 25 days without smoking.
 
Hehe. I dont smoke and i dont know about the meetings so i wouldnt know but i understand what you are saying.
 
Well I certainly hope I have my GeForce FX 5900 Ultra by Sept 30th, otherwise I'll have to play it on a GeForce FX 5200 :(
 
Can't you get the present in advance? :)

My parents always do that. One time I got a bike almost a year before my birthday. LOL

omg thats a good point when i get half life 2 i wont be able to play it argh im getting a new computer but ill probably get it in about 2 months nooooo beat that farrowlesparrow not that im proud :(

Are you sure it was a present that was a few days late? You since birthdays are like ever year on the same date.


Anyway, i dont want it early because it would be a real crappy birthday if i didnt get anything on the day. not only that but it ruins the fun. Like i said anticipation is half the enjoyment. I know i will appreciate getting the computer a lot more if i have waited for it.

At this moment I got a good computer (only 1,3 years old)

p4 2.26Ghz
asus p4s533 motherboard
512 mb pc2700
gf4 ti 4600

I want to run HL2 with a high resolution and all the dx9 features. The problem is that my gf4 don't support DX9 so it would not be that nice gfx and special effects.

I would like to upgrade my pc with motherboard: asus p4c800, ati radeon 9800 (128mb) and 2.8Ghz p4 and some PC3200 memory

I don't know if I got the $800 in september....

maybe I should get only the ati card :cool:

I have a Ge Force 2 by the way. Ive over clocked it but it still sucks sprouts....yes....sprouts, its that bad.
 
And I thought having to wait to get back from school to play it is bad! I'd die if I had to wait 25 days with HL2 sitting there... staring... taunting... laughing at me... you must be extremely patient if you're willing to wait that long.

Heck, if I still had my Pentium II I'd try to install it on that! That's how desperate I would be! :p

September 30th is a Tuesday, right? :(

Its a birthday present from my family.

I will last out. I know i can. Besides it will allow me to get back into the college routine, otherwise i would jsut get hooked on HL2 straight away and not do any work.
 
What about a wait of 9 months and 8 days, or is that just insanity? Farrowlesparrow, i'm gonna need some serious chloroform......

gd news ive discovered that i was wrong my computer is ready for it but only for the minimum im getting a new computer sometime after that but i tell u im not as patient as u im playing straight away :p:p:p but ill promise ill come to the forum now and then to mock u
 
cools specs dood! I my self would drop the ATI card and get a geforce fx 5900 ultra and linux as the os but thats just me :)
Ill help you make it. Send me the game so you wont be tempted to play it :)
 
Well XP comes as standard. I have linux on my current machine. Although i dont use it much because it doesnt yet have supposrt for all the games i play. As for the ATI card. Well i prefer them really and the 9800 is supposed to give better looking graphics. I was thinking about getting a gainword Gold Sample geforce but the ATI comes with the machine im getting so there wasnt much point. Im suprised someone hasnt come on to try and make fun of the specs. That normally happens. Some guy with Pentium 12, 200 TB of HD space, 60 GB of Ram and a Geforece 160000Ultra super turbe super charged FX.
 
I could run it but itd be low graphics and I want the best possible gaming experience so I'd have to wait. I probably will have to wait anywhere from 1 - 3 months after it comes out even though I pre-ordered it. But if all goes according to plan i should get a new computer like a week before it comes out but sometimes things don't happen how you want them to and you have to wait.

Dont worry. Im gonna take as much time about it as possible. I always take time about things that i like doing.
