HL2 no longer shows up in my list of games to play (its greyed out, and I have to download it again via steam). Any way to tell the game that it already has the files and doesnt have to download them again? It wants to keep creating a valve directory on my C: drive and it's not looking to the D: drive where my HL2 stuff is.

Because Steam has your HL2 directory bound to where it's first set via Registry entries.

well I went into regedit and all instances of "steam" point to the D drive where I Moved it to, what else should I do?

You can rip out the GCFs and any important files, uninstall-delete-restart-reinstall, and move the stuff back.

Maybe just let it download again. It'll probably realize you've got everything and will be ready in a few seconds.

Happened with another poster here too.

well when I launch steam and choose to install HL2, it says avaliable disk space is 76 GB which is the right drive but why does it create a new valve dir in the C: drive?

Ah. You've left Steam in the original location? Well, that's a bummer :/
Guess you'll have to move Steam too.
