I need a CO-Director for Mod Concept

It's not a bad idea and like the spin to it, but it seems like the swat vs badguy "realism" mods are just getting out of hand.

Maybe think about adding some of those cool game modes to existing mods that are similiar?

I can host you if you require it. Please let me know by posting here.

I think you should put a lot more effort into original ideas before you start recruiting. Realism mods are everywhere, you will really need a decent team to get anywhere.

Well said. Now I'm currenlty building a site for this MOD as to make it easier for recruiting purposes so if anyone else is interested, you can still contact me directly.

"This MOD isn't a CS® clone for the simple fact that CS® is arcade style gaming and this will be a real world, real people, and real possibilities simulation."

Sorry, but if your mod idea had any potential, you wouldn't need to say that on the front page of your site. Furthermore, cs is not arcade style gaming by design, it is a real world, real people, and real possibilities simulation, people just choose to deathmatch it.

Interesting thought. I'll just have to reply that no, Counter-Strike isn't totally real people, only Counter-Terror team is, the rest aren't all real locations. It doesn't go to the extent of realism I am taking this. As someone said before a game can either be Fiction, Semi-Realism, Realism, I'm pushing the realism.

Just as other games like to stick to specific areas, that is what I am doing with this. Counter-Strike is braud and doesn't deal with a specific area, Desert Combat deals with Desert Storm and current Iraq, Battlefield 1942 deals with a specific period in WW2, Battlefield Vietnam deals with Vietnam, Armed Diplomacy with deal with current war on terror.

I don't consider "this is a terrorist game, so is Counter-Strike" a good argument since companies often produce games in genres that are overly used and still have successful games with huge fan base.

This modification will also deal with Secret Service operations.

I was just thinking from a potential team member's point of view. I still think you should scrap it and come up with something original. Since this is mod development, you won't have the hype tools necessary to make your game, (no offence, but "just another realism thingy"), a success.

For a realism mod to be successful, to rise above the hundredsomething others, you are going to need some originality otherwise nobody with any talent will join your team. I have yet to see anything in your concepts that strikes me as ground breaking.

"I'll just have to reply that no, Counter-Strike isn't totally real people, only Counter-Terror team is, the rest aren't all real locations. It doesn't go to the extent of realism I am taking this." Ok, so the Terrorist team isn't precisely realistic, but you do get an option of roughly where they come from. Does this even matter? Do you think that making your characters "real" will matter to anybody after their first play of the game?

"Just as other games like to stick to specific areas, that is what I am doing with this. Counter-Strike is braud and doesn't deal with a specific area" Fine, it doesn't, but it has something a specific area does not; variety. Variety keeps people interested and keeps them playing.

"I don't consider "this is a terrorist game, so is Counter-Strike" a good argument" A fair argument from a designers point of view, but think as a player. I wouldn't bother with a terrorism game unless it provided something that makes it rise above the rest, and from your concept, i just don't think your mod has the potential.

Hope this helps, you'd be doing the mod scene a favour if you came up with something new :)

OFFMason, if it was an idea worth making, then 90% of the posts on this thread wouldnt be ones against your idea or ones that find it, well, bland and unoriginal.

save yourself a heap of time (well, actually, the 1 or 2 days it'll take before you give up when noone wants to join the mod team) and come up with a good idea, at least 90% of the 202951251716 mods already out there have original-ish concepts.

Alrighty, still looking for members if anyone is interested. I can't really say what I'm thinking, but I'm still eager to get this out to everyone. I've read your suggestions and I don't agree what so ever.

Taking on board the advice of others who have been in the same situation would go a long way in helping you to succeed. But then some people are just plain ignorant.

I just say, let him go on with his project. It won't affect you really. If it does fail, then at least he gained the experience, but there is always a chance of it succeeding.

I think you are going a little hard on him. I would kind of expect better from HL2.net Staff. I would voice my opinions about other mods, even in ways that you stated, but I don't for the decency of the aspiring mod leaders or staff.

Argyll, that just didn't make any sense.

"I would voice my opinions about other mods, even in ways that you stated, but I don't for the decency of the aspiring mod leaders or staff."

What decency? A good mod leader will take on board all commentary, especially advice given from someone with experience. If not, I'd hardly call that mod leader decent.

You're right, it wont affect me, even at all. But alas, I took it upon myself to attempt to help a guy getting started, even after an abuse incident in the irc channel which will not be discussed here. And i'm going hard on him?

I'm not trying to put him off making a mod, I simply suggest he should reconsider before wasting his time. Strongly.

Wow Onions, I was about to respond similarly but...

1. You posted
2. you've got a really f***ed up avatar

thanks i think :)
must see about making one that isnt as offensive before i get munro on my back, again, but maybe with clothes on this time. we can but hope :)

That definitely makes sense, Onions, I just suggest you analyze his comment further.

I have heard your comments and I do not agree with them. If you're done, thats great.

Remember that they're still making CS2, this time with Valve team members as well as some original CS team members. Not to say yours can't be better, but are you up to competing with a professionally made mod? (It can definately be done, but it's still not easy)

When you fail miserably, I only hope you will think better of me :)
