I reformatted today because my computer was really getting bogged down. I was having problems with my drive controller working, so I rearranged my PCI cards in an attempt to try to get XP to recognize it. When I turned the computer back on, I had all kinds of weird graphic glitches. I took out the gfx card and reseated it, and when I turned the computer back on I get no screen (and no prompt for video input, just a black screen). I tried another AGP video card I had laying around and the same thing. I took my ram out and it promptly beeped, so I know the motherboard isn't dead. My question is, do you think the AGP slot is f'ed, the power supply is f'ed, or something else?

Here are my specs:

AMD 64 3000+
1GB Corsair Ram
Asus K8V SE Deluxe Mobo
MSI 9800 XT 128 MB
Sound Blaster Live Sound Card
Maxtor Ultra ATA 100 Drive Controller
250GB, 120GB, 60GB and 200GB Hard drives, all various makes and models
350Watt Power Supply (forget the name)

You could try to unplug all the stuff that you won't need, so I would leave 1 stick of ram, the CPU & HSF, 1 HD preferably plugged into the motherboard and not your drive controller and the video card. Thats should be the minimum you need to get the pc up and running. Hopefully, it will give you an idea of what is causing the problems. If it doesn't, then if you can, try different componants. Do all the fans run etc. and do teh HD's sound like they are starting up?

Yeh so its probably something that you have plugged in that is either faulty or not plugged in right. I would take everything out except teh cpu & hsf and then plugin a stick of memory, the gfx card and the HD into the motherboard and not the controller card. If it starts, then add componants 1 at a time to try adn find the faulty componant.
