Hey HL2net!
I am looking for some royalty free, high quality drum samples to use in my music.
I don't want drum loops, anyone can take an existing free drum loop and take credit for it. My music is my art. I want full creative control, I want to create my own drum patterns myself.
I want individual sounds ie bass drum, snare samples etc
I don't mind paying for some if it's worth it.

Any good ideas, websites? Etc?

Using drum loops does not mean using the original pattern.

Ever heard of break beat?

I sample loops from movies/music.

Drum loops + beat slicing = individual samples.

From there, create whatever patterns you want.

Also I don't think anyone who uses drum samples 'takes credit' for the original.

Still don't believe me, do you.

All sampled.

I sample from lesser-known bands. There are so many great recordings out there that no one touches.

99.9 percent of the music I listen to uses drums from loops. Most of them well known loops that are used all over the place.

You've got the wrong idea about loops Neptune.

Points taken.
I am relatively inexperienced with using drum breaks, and my production method is unorthodox (unprofessional) because I tend to experiment with things to create new things than aim for a particular sound.

Who cares! 'Professionalism' be damned. Experimentation is how all good music comes about.

i usually find much more interesting hits in drum loops, especially stuff from the 60's.. alot easier than searching for that perfect snare.. layering breakbeats is common as well.

i've got about 15-20 gigs of this stuff, i found most of it by luck and on odd places on the internet

try akai sample cd's

music forums usually post collections every now and then.. google

that's the method in every studio i've been in.. it's like the entire industry relies on happy accidents

Hey there you go, nice work.

I would have used more variation in the beat though. I enjoy working with breaks so much that I can't resist exploring all the rhythm a break has to offer within a track. I could make bars and bars of different beats.
