I hate thursadays at work!!!

there's an older woman that comes in every monday and thursaday ..an older guy comes in on thursdays and between the two they annoy the crap out of me!

they're constantly asking me questions that have absolutely nothing to do with my job

the older lady (she's sweet but hopelessly ...dumb) constantly talks to herself when she has a problem and it's ALWAYS in the form of a question:

example...this morning at 9 am she comes in sits at her desk (2 feet from mine ...we're in facing cubicles) and says:

"there's aq message on my answering machine but I checked it and there's no message ...why is there a message, I didnt get one there shouldnt be a message" to me: "Stern, why is there a message"

at this point my head is ready to burst because I'm screaming (in my head of course) : "HOW THE #$@!!! SHOULD I KNOW??? DO I LOOK LIKE THE FREAKING MESSAGE GUY!!!!"

but I try to be real patient and explain to her that I'm not sure why. 5 minutes later: "there's still a message ...why would there be a message if I dont have any messages, it's strange because no one sent me a message, and I didnt recieve any ..." on and on for 5 minutes

some of the dumber things she's said:

"microsoft updates are ready to download" hmmmm ...I didnt ask for updates to be downloaded, why is it asking me to download?, is it a virus? IS this normal? I dont want to install it if it's a virus..."

"you have unused icons on your desktop, do you wish to delete them now?" .....hmmmm why is it asking me to delete icons? I didnt ask it to delete icons ...maybe it's a virus? ....................................................................Stern, is this a virus?"

argghhhhhhhh!!!!!

do you have any co-workers that annoy you to no end? post your experiences here

I wouldn't know 'cause I don't work. :P

...yet, at least. :)

The way you described that old woman, I can't help but picture Link's grandma in Wind Waker. :D I think it might have something to do with this comic strip.

yes funny but she doent inspire the same level of "I want to hack you to little pieces with a dull axe!" like my co-worker does!

disclaimer: I'm non-violent, but thinking violent thoughts is sometimes strangely relaxing

well maybe it shows that they look up to you, and see you as a figure in authority? use that as leverage, next time you go in to ask for a pay rise :P

awww always the optomist :)

actually she asks me cuz I'm the web designer so I MUST know everything there is to know about computers. We have an IT guy who hates thursdays as much as I do. I've said to her in the past: "maybe you should ask the IT guy, he can figure it out" and she says: "no he'll just get angry at me"

Sgt_Shellback: post some of your storys of annoying temps

HAHHAHA wednesday was my last day of work! hazah i am having a week of summer before I leave for college

I need a vacation

she just walked by me loudly munching on an apple!

usually that doesnt bug me, but man, she's been bugging me all day, after awhile everything becomes annoying ...thankfully the old guy (who sits 5 feet away from me) is at a meeting all day, or he would be annoying me as well

2 seconds ago: there's a new printer behind me, and she just stood behind me saying (while munching on an apple):

"it's not working? where's the print? why isnt it working I sent it to print 10 minutes ago"

I say: "did you check the other printer?

a second later I hear her at the other printer saying "oh, there it is"

/sound of bashing head against wall

That happends at school, just because i'm interested in computers I should know exactly how every little pointless feature in for example Word works... :/

the old guy came up to me last week and asked me:

"I have this chapter from my book but the words dont fit in to the maximum number of pages I want, can I condense it so that it takes less space?"

I say " well if you change the size of the font or adjust the line spacing..."

he says: "hmmmmm....I know you cant do that on a pc but can my apple computer do that?"

I say: "no you freaking moron!!! why dont you wrap that pc around your neck and go for a swim!!!!

no I dont really say that :E , I just said: "it doesnt matter what OS it is, it will still do the same thing, I can show you if you'd like"

My most annoying stories are from Temps who are brought in at the last minute to help with a big project...

I spend so much time getting them up to speed on how the company operates, what the project is about, who they should be dealing with, and what they should be doing that any benifits of having them here are gone.

I've tried handling it differently by just letting them figure things out on their own but then they just take up space... Walking around looking lost and emptying the coffee pot and not starting a new pot.

Our last Summer Co-op spent all his time working on a software project that was always reported as "Progressing nicely", and "On Schedule", and "You'll be amazed when I'm done"... He didn't do a requirements capture and never even finished the data definition... We scrapped all the files on his PC after he left and started over from scratch.

hahaha must have been quality stuff

same happened here, before I was hired they had a co-op create a website for them: it took a year to complete, but never made it onto the web cuz it looked like crap

haha stern. I don't work in IT, but i've got an IT friend who says one of his co-workers looks like Mimi from the Drew Carey Show. He tells me similar stories.

My supervisor is a lazy ass, but he's not a dumbass. He's just paranoid cause our boss is angry with the lab. I work in a clinical research lab. My work is more research, but i do menial tasks (i'm the lab bitch). We test for a deficiency in a liver protein and our turnaround time for reporting the results has been lagging. Our boss thinks it's our fault, but shit has been really crappy around here lately. Last month our server went down and we couldn't submit results and mail to the physicians. Our boss went to Hawaii for two weeks and he has to sign off on stuff before it gets reported to the physicians. And he's blaming us for being slow. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

a few months ago i worked as a clerk in a deli. i live in a pretty "uptown" area in seattle, so they are all a bunch of pompous dipshits. they come in asking for maceroni, and though they are well off they are the biggest tight wads ever. "FILL THAT MACERONI ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP". god, the littlest things piss me off with customers.

I used to get people that annoyed the hell out of me, but now I act clueless around everyone so nobody comes to me when they have pathetic problems that I couldnt give a rats arse about.

Nice, aren't I.

lol great story :E

Can't say I have to put up with stuff like that no more. But if I put my mind to it I could probably remember a few annoying people I've had to work with over the years.
