like everyone else i feel like i should be able to enjoy playing the FULL version of half life 2 but my firend borrowed the game and moved after he gave it back and now it says its still in use.

really i would be happy if you could let me use if thats not a problem ofcoarse

i know what you mean man... well i understand but then agian i have call of duty 2 cd keys and bf2 and the movies and gtr2

hey hey no trading cd keys on this forum
edit: i just re read your post and when you use hl2 you must use the steam account that you first tied the cd key to in the first place. halflife2 does not work like many many other games where a cd key can be used anywhere. it is tied to a steam account and one only.

well the person i lended it to is tied to a steam account before me

So go get his login name and password....

Actually, wait a second - you say that YOU lent it to him. Now, surely you had installed and played the game at least once, before lending it to someone else. When you did that, you would have HAD to create a Steam account, thus locking your game to that account. When your friend borrowed that game, he could ONLY have successfully installed and played (legally) it if YOU had given him your Steam account name and password.

So you need to use the account you made when you first installed Steam. Of course your CD key is already tied to an account - YOURS. Once you have used your CD key ONCE, you can pretty much throw it away, as all you will EVER need to do to install and play the game is log onto your Steam account. NO CD KEY REQUIRED.

And there lies your problem. You are obviously trying to make a new Steam account (or else you wouldn't be trying to enter a CD key). Stop trying to CREATE an account, and log onto YOUR EXISTING STEAM ACCOUNT.

Either that, or you are full of sh*t and are just trying (badly) to scam someone out of their HL2 CD key. In which case you fail, because you need Steam account details, NOT cd keys.

sure ill give my cd key. wouldnt get you anywhere though because its tied to my account....

You're pretty stupid if you think someone here is actually going to give you a cd-key. Oh but wait, you offered to 'trade' for it, with what, fake cd-keys for other games? GTFO. If you want HL2 go to the store and buy it.

Shasta pretty much hit the nail on the head, before locking and disregarding this thread for the rest of eternity it would be nice if the thread starter could explain the situation. The concept of the HL2 game being his own, but his friend has the Steam account is highly perplexing. Failure so far...

I've lent my friend games before I had a chanve to play them. Doesn't mena that I'm a pirate.

Yes but those games can be installed on Multiple systems, the CDKEYs removed from the computer, etcetera.
