I dont think its illegal if it is correct me and we wont do it. But this is a google bomb:

if you type in "unelectable" George W Bush comes up. (well the bio which is the equivelant

So this is how it works: We want to make "Valve software" (http://www.valvesoftware.com/) come up FIRST on google when we enter the word "awesome" in the search engine. OK?
This is how it will work HL2.net has a medium pagerank on google hl2.net/forums has a medium-small one. That means it will take some effor to get http://www.valvesoftware.com to number one.
So... How is it done? simple:
You either (im not sure, maybe both work...)
1. put the word "awesome and http://www.valvesoftware.com/ in one post or.....
2. Make a hyperlink by going advanced and put "awesome" and then make it link to http://www.valvesoftware.com/
for example:
awesome http://www.valvesoftware.com/
awesome
