Well, i registered here today just to say this:

I admire the hacker who hacked to valve's computers...
Gabe - instead of searching the hackers, Create/Buy a security system BEFORE you are working on a BIG project like HL2 (and connecting its source computers to the internet).

you deserved what they did to you, thus we all share your source now with a smile on our face thinking: i dont need this!, but maybe someone else will build a good engined game for us all (even for free).:cheers:

The reason the hacked valve is because HL2 is so big. Most security has loopholes etc. You dont really think they had no security do you. Grow up. If they could hack valve the likelyhood is that they could hack most games. Valve did not deserve this so shut up now. You want me to salute (yeah thats how its spelled) the guy that potentionaly delayed HL2, probably cost Valve tons of money. Beyond the fact that Valve was one of the better people when it came to the community yet the person who did this completely disrespected the support valve has shown to the mods and everyone else. Which by the way mods are free so don't bother with the making games splew. There is something called a SDK that could have let people make great games free and legaly. Give me one good reason why Vavle deserved this besides your lame ass excuse about lack of security. I can tell you a few places where you can shove your apple.
