I thought they only banned fully automatic rifles and machine guns?

so your saying the fact that america just has the most gun deaths out of any other country in the world has nothing to do with the fact that you guys sell guns to beople willy nilly?

It is quite a bit harder to buy one of those weapons then the person on that site leads you to belive.

Tantalus: The Assault weapons ban was a joke, the only thing it outlawed were certain kinds of flash supressors and certain stocks and such. No firearm was banned, and in fact within days of the ban going into effect every gun store had slightly modified their stock to keep them legal.

There's no difference in deaths because the assault weapons ban was a joke.

Very true, it is difficult to buy guns. And yes, the ban was only on fully automatic weapons... so what? A knife is more dangerous than a pistol if you know how to use it.

you seriously know that is not true. any old idiot can slaughter people with a gun, and quite alot of people to.
give a knive to the same idiot and he will have alot more trouble.

Who cares about some moron wanna sell weapons to dumbnut, dumbnuts killing dumbnuts, don't have a problem with it until they kill some non-weapon dumbnut. Then their nuts should be sent off to prison, now let's all place your hands behind your heads and back away from the thread, okay?

Any old person can slaughter people with a car.

Lets ban them!

Its a double edged sword.

A gun is not a doubled edge sword. its made for killing. end.

Its a tool.

Would the world be a better place if nobody had guns? Yes.

But the sheer fact is that even if Law abiding citizens don't have guns, Criminals will. At least in America. Other countries can ban firearms and it have a positive effect. Unfortunately that won't work in America. This country is too ****ed up.

Ah, good ol' USA vs. England. Which is why I'm glad to be living in Australia instead.

(despite the prementioned and obvious fact that he was from england,.) Part of that freedom is free speach. Why dont YOU leave America if it bothers you that much? Silly racist.

Well at least people now know of Steve Irwing so they got a good nice stereotype for ya. All Sweden has is... the swedish chef from the muppets.

Well, let's not make it easier for them to get guns at least... assault rifles ARE a tool - for killing and killing only.

Hunting with an assault rifle is overkill.

Amazingly enough, only a few weeks after the ban was lifted, some guy in the woods "hunting" with an assault rifle killed six other hunters and wounded several more.

Yeah, with a ban legal assault rifle.

The ban was a joke. It outlawed some accessories.

There is nothing wrong with this website as far as I can see. I see no shady dealings. Your sweeping generalizations and hate are uncalled for. That's like me hating the entirety of England for having more socialist programs. I disagree with it, but England's great overall.

Wait a sec...this pistol does kind of strengthen the theory that the Gman shot that Barney in Power Up. Y'know when you first (I think) see a Garg, and Barneys injured and cant make it, in a room you see the Gman in before. Someone else can summarise that theory better, but yea the pistol reinforces it.

Hah, everybody knows what the G-Man had in his briefcase in HL1. Has anyone explored his model in HL2 though? What's in the briefcase?

Oh my. I never thought of that, but it makes perfect sense.

Yup, guns are as American as apple pie (I love the pics of the automatic weapons on that site using the stars and stripes as a background - sums it up). Gun control does work...at least it does if you are not an arrogant American. Toronto and Chicago are very similar in population, demographics etc, yet Toronto has an average of 65 homicides per year while Chicago has over 650 per year. Americans fight for their right to bear arms, Canadians fight to keep guns out of the country. It is beyond me how anyone can think they should have a legal right to possess something that's sole function is to kill. And don't give me this "it's for protection" crap. Guns purchased for home protection kill family members far more often than they kill intruders.

Oh, and back on topic. I seem to recall that if you use no-clip on the G-man in HL1 you can see the lamda HL logo inside his briefcase

Yeah, most australians are nothing more than decendents of convicts or prison guards. lol, i love this stuff. Most americans are dumb and most english are just lazy/dont give a shit. I think that true englishmen, not british, english are fascists deep down inside but we just cant be arsed.

oh and the Romans ruled, no pun intended.

It is beyond me how anyone can think they should have a legal right to possess something that's sole function is to kill. And don't give me this "it's for protection" crap. Guns purchased for home protection kill family members far more often than they kill intruders.

MYTH:"Since a gun in a home is many times more likely to kill a family member than to stop a criminal, armed citizens are not a deterrent to crime."

This myth, stemming from a superficial "study" of firearm accidents in the Cleveland, Ohio, area, represents a comparison of 148 accidental deaths (including suicides) to the deaths of 23 intruders killed by home owners over a 16-year period.

Gross errors in this and similar "studies"--with even greater claimed ratios of harm to good--include: the assumption that a gun hasn't been used for protection unless an assailant dies; no distinction is made between handgun and long gun deaths; all accidental firearm fatalities were counted whether the deceased was part of the "family" or not; all accidents were counted whether they occurred in the home or not, while self-defense outside the home was excluded; almost half the self-defense uses of guns in the home were excluded on the grounds that the criminal intruder killed may not have been a total stranger to the home defender; suicides were sometimes counted and some self-defense shootings misclassified. Cleveland's experience with crime and accidents during the study period was atypical of the nation as a whole and of Cleveland since the mid-1970s. Moreover, in a later study, the same researchers noted that roughly 10% of killings by civilians are justifiable homicides.

Research conducted by Professors James Wright and Peter Rossi,6 for a landmark study funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, points to the armed citizen as possibly the most effective deterrent to crime in the nation. Wright and Rossi questioned over 1,800 felons serving time in prisons across the nation and found:

81% agreed the "smart criminal" will try to find out if a potential victim is armed.
74% felt that burglars avoided occupied dwellings for fear of being shot.
80% of "handgun predators" had encountered armed citizens.
40% did not commit a specific crime for fear that the victim was armed.
34% of "handgun predators" were scared off or shot at by armed victims.
57% felt that the typical criminal feared being shot by citizens more than he feared being shot by police.

Professor Kleck estimates that annually 1,500-2,800 felons are legally killed in "excusable self-defense" or "justifiable" shootings by civilians, and 8,000-16,000 criminals are wounded. This compares to 300-600 justifiable homicides by police. Yet, in most instances, civilians used a firearm to threaten, apprehend, shoot at a criminal, or to fire a warning shot without injuring anyone.
