Where you blew his brains out all over the wall in cold blood? :D

Oh cool that's the mod to use CS weapons in Half-Life, I've been meaning to check that out.

I can't remember if I killed Eli Vance, I'm sure I must have at elast one of the time I played HL.

You must've killed each one of the NPCs at least once. It's cruel :(

Never killed any of them on purpose. Just seemed like a waste of time. One of the reasons I really liked Blue Shift was you finally got to see them escape. I'll be happy when Dog and Barney kill some of you freaks in HL2.-

"I got another on-- *BANG* *BANG* .. barney falls to floor.

Are you telling me you never spent a few hours just killing the NPC's? that was half the game.

I spent most of my time gathering up as many friendly NPC's as I could and have them march with me to victory as we rebelled against the military. But then I would come to a vent I would have to crawl through and they would have to be left behind.

It was always an emotional good bye. ;(
*Mullinator starts to sob

I got into the role and tried to save the scientists. Barneys? I tried to save them but usually lead them into getting killed accidentaly. the horror..the horror...

I remember having 8 scientist and six barneys following me...

I also killed ALOT of them..free ammo like he said.

scientists did absolutely nothing... except whimper and cower.

i hope they don't shove NPCs down your throat in HL2 though.. and i hope they don't have to stay alive.

in that scene with the doctor and alyx, i wouldn't be listening to their crap, i would be knocking everything over and smashing stuff with my crowbar... then "game over you lose because you have no real choice anymore".

oh well

Interesting considering you could only have two NPCs following you at a time... o.0

Dog will revenge all dead barneys and scientists from HL1! Dog will kill you just as many times as you've killed friendly NPC's in HL1!
Mohahahahaha!=)

I reckon dog might be a cat...

i don't know about all this "killing alyx, killing all NPCs, kill everyone" attitude that everyone has. I intend to play the game through, following the story, caring about the characters, and really getting into it...at least the first time.

later is for experimentation.

Exactly... That's mostly our thoughts too.

Spiffae: We're game players, and therefore homicidal killing machines.
But really, killing a scientist in a humorous way made for a pretty good time, especially considering HL's already twisted sense of humor.
"What do you mean overcharge it?"

I remember leading a Barney out to the Tentacle creature.

"It's alright I can take--" *Moosh sound*

the trick is to let barney kill as many things as possible then when there is nothing more to kill or he cant advance through the path then you take his weapon.

True, I'm just wondering how Barney will be handled in HL2. Since he is a main character now, will he be invincible? Or will he be able to die?

Maybe when he gets wounded he'll retreat, because being a main character Valve's not going to let him die at any moment, but it would be kind of ridiculous to watch him charging towards 10 soldiers impervious to their gunfire.

maybe he'll just be a coward and never fight, evryone download scientist slaughterhouse, its a mod for HL1.. dunno where at look it up on google, it has like 52 weapons and stuff for killing them and various traps etc. even has a manipulator gun.. every gun also has primary, secondary, and teritary fire its pretty kewl

this brings up an interesting point. I assume some of you have played Goldeneye, my least favorite level in that game is the one in which you have to protect Natalya. Due to the games crappy AI she would always just stroll right through the crossfire. If there are any levels based on protecting NPCs that would greatly reduce my interest in the game.

oh come on!!! :bounce:

so if HL2 has a total of lets say 50 levels, and in 1 or even 2 level ur mission becomes to protect a NPC.. u would lose interest? weak...

u have 48 more levels to be careless and dangerous.. 2 levels with a VIP escourt won't ruin the game sheesh :p

I like levels where I have to defend someone.
Just as long as the NPC isn't a total moron and has good A.I. like they will in HL2. :)
It was always fun, especially when enemies can come from multiple places so you're just running around slaughtering anything and everything in a fit of rage.
Made it all for a true purpose too.
Cheers!

P.S. Calhoun kicks arse!
:D

well... good point. I'm sure the game will be awesome and the AI in Hl must be a lot better than goldeneye... Thats it, you've convinced me. But do you agree with my statement that NPC protection really sucks?

nope i don't agree with ur statement..
1 level of NPC escourt won't kill ya.. and definitely won't ruin a whole game..

anyway its not a big deal.. i don't understand why pple would have a problem with it..

NPC escort can be great if done well...stand up Syphon Filter 2 (great game) but abysmal if not..stand up timepslitters 1 and the phantom menace game. But this is Valve, so I'm not worried. chances are Alyx will be like gregorov in SF2-more than competent in combat-but obviously with the difference of not being an obese spetznas colnol.
