It was pure shite, first of all the mouse only had one button for ****s sake. Second of all half the classrooms macs crashed during the lesson which was incidently to do with video editing (it's A level media studies) which is what macs are aparantly best at, well thats a ****ing monkey bollocks. First of all there's no right mouse button which makes everything that much harder, then there's the fact that the special effects like fade in fade out, took up to 20 seconds to be processed which would be acceptable if i was useing really really really high bitrate video, but I wasn't and quite frankly my oldish computer can add effects like that in realtime never mind what my new computer or what could be baught on the colleges budget could do.

Why people in the media industry claim macs are better is something I have never understood, especialy as a high powered mac costs a lot more than a pc of the same spec which can be upgraded with ease. The only redeeming feature of the mac is that fact it looks nice (the new flat panel ones anyway) both on the outside and on the OS but thats it, unless you think the time it takes to boot is in anyway important to someone trying to edit 300 hours of footage in high rez. actually the boot time is proberly quite important if there mac crashes as much as ours do.

Oh and did I mention the mouse had only one blastpheaming uncle ****ing sad excuse for a button.

Well some people hate Macs some love them. Personally I love them since I grew up with one.

Your right, macs suck so bad... ARRG:flame: I am using one right now because they are the only friggin computers on campus other than in the comp sci room (finally). And correction: the new macs have NO buttons  yes thats right, you click the entire mouse. much more user freindly. I am just waiting for them to come out with a one button keyboard that uses iMorse technology.

Sounds like Plymouth University.

Thats not a good reason.

Its as good as any reason. in fact its probably the reason why most people like PC's, simply because thats whats normal for them. If you had started off using a Mac and hadnt really touched a PC, then you would probably go on about how PC's suck.

I started off useing amega's and consoles...

You don't hear me praising them, also if something came along better than a PC I would quickly make the move to that and then start insulting PC's, but as PC's are the best solution I can't really insult the overall platform because there is nothing that can be proven to be better. The only thing I can insult PC's for is there complexity, it's far too easy to get ripped off in the PC market.

Anyway I don't like macs for a few good reasons not just because I don't have one.

I didn't own a PC until I was 18 (it was a graduation present), and the ONLY type of comp my school system uses is mac. It was really hard for me to get used to my PC, and I still would go back to mac in a second if the gaming market catered to them. MAC OS X is UNIX based for Christ-sakes! I had a roommate in college who had a mac and it was awesome except for the lack of games. If major game devs started catering equally to both markets (not a chance in hell right now) M$ would be in big trouble. We core gamers are the ones who push the market. If we ever realized how much power we have. as a united entity, we could bend the whole computer industry at our will.

Just my opinion. :)

Well it works like this:
Normal human beings, such as men, has a strange idea that everything they own is better than the person anything else and it's usually impossible for them to understand that they're wrong. And if you finally convince them that their i.e. printer is a piece of shit they usually start talking about that their printer was more expensive than the other guy's. Am I right or what?
I like Macs since they neat at graphics, not necessarily for gaming, but for Adobe Photoshop etc. I don't know about 3D animations but I guess it works the same way. Also I love to edit videos and when it comes to editing videos it's way easier to get good Video Editing programs for a MAC. There're programs like Final Cut Pro, Media 100 and the simple, but still perfect, iMovie. If you want to spend, or waste if that's how you feel about it, your life on gaming then PC is the way to go! Nothing less!
I've got a PC in my room and my dad's got a Macintosh, and if I should chose between one of them, then I would probably pick the PC because I like to play games, such as: Jedi Academy and Vice City and probably Half-Life2 when it hits the shelves. But I wouldn't be able to live without a Mac either because I can't live without making films. iMovie is the perfect program for stopmotion animations so there's no way I would toss away a MAC, then I would rather kick my PC to hell and laugh at it at the same time.
I couldn't help noticing that you mentioned the one-button-mouse. What's wrong with that? The only reason why MAC only has a one-button-mouse is that MacOs is so simple it doesn't need two mouse buttons. If you want to check out the preferences on a folder you just activate it and then gently press "the-apple-button"+i. Now you might say "well, that's ****ing complicated, it's much easier to just right-click on your mouse", and it is easier but I don't think any Mac users who's tried a two-button-mouse are sitting at home weeping because there's only one button on their mouse. As soon as you get the hang of the "apple-button" then it doesn't take any longer to use it that, than it does pressing the right mouse button.
Another brilliant thing about a Mac is that they're not that easily wiped out. My dad's Mac is...about 3 years old I think, and it still runs like a dream! It's never been infected by any viruses because 98% of all viruses are for PCs only and it has only been reinstalled once since we got it.

That was my 2 cents...

Never owned a mac, so I can't praise them or dis them. Pc's are customizable, thats why I like Pc's.

Same here. But the only reason I want a mac is because of OSX.I just love the look of it.But untill Apple helps support more games for the mac I'm not going to buy one.

I love the taskbar at the bottom of OSX, how everything scales when you run your mouse over it.

But at the end of the day 2 things will always hold back macs if they stick with their business plan.

1)almost no game suport

2)Hardware manufacturing is controlled by Apple, so prices will always be high

I've never had much luck with macs. It could be that I just hate fruit.
It was funny to watch my Phisical Science teacher trying to find the reset button in the back of it.

Also, yeh, the obvious lack of games.

Hear hear Frank!

I really can't understand where all this animosity towards Macs comes from. No clue. Maybe it's the same thing that makes people hate gays and people who are different, and that is of course the fear (maybe too strong a word) of new and different things.

And before you reply to my post with flames, I'm not saying you are homophobes or xenophobes, I'm just saying that people often tend to hate things that are different. That's all.

I used to use Macs all the time, and I got my first PC 6 years ago (I'm 19). Until that time, I had only used Macs, though I had played some games at my friends' house on PC. I have really thought about getting a Mac to sit beside my PC.

Macs are horrible. They're trying to keep up with todays standards. You can even build your own PC cheaper then buying your own MAC! We were forced to use those Macs in elementary. Thank god in middle school,no Macs!

I have a parasitic imac in my stomach. I didn't name it, because macs are crap.
