Is there any way, any way whatsoever, that I can make Far Cry 1.3's HDR rendering work on a 5900XT? Forget about preformance hits. Is it possible?

HDR in far cry wasn;t all that. it seemed a bit over the top and just annoyed me. can;t wait for hdr on source though

hdr isnt the greatest thing in farcry its PS3.0 its so pretty

I dont know of a way to enable HDR on a GeforceFX in far cry. It requires a PS 3.0 compatable videocard to run. If you find a way though it would be through searching google. If you do find a way though please tell me how it is done.

basically its just more realistic lighting so if u look at the sun or a glare it will look like its reality and greatly improved gfx that the source engine was meant for i will prob. only get like 10fps

But PS3.0 doesn't alter the visible graphics in any way, it just improves performance.

Basically not about realistic light, more about light volume, having HDR allows you to have light at say 200, while the limit before was like 100(I.e. white)

If there is a way, though with the very small 9x support probably not, you would probably be hittin .5FPS.....

have u ever even seen pics of PS3.0

He is right PS 3.0 does not introduce any new graphical effects or enhance image quality. It can do some operations in fewer rendering passes so games can run faster. You are also right however. Since PS 3.0 can make games run faster they can add more eye candy. However if you wanted a picture of PS 3.0 it self then it would probably look like a lot of code cause a pixel shader just lets designers make things and is not anything unless programmed.

hmm it would b interesting to try it out, but rly i think it would pwn my machine, oh well ill have to just look at pics *sniffs

Your really not missing out on much. It looks cool but it doesnt make the game any more fun. Just a little better looking in some area's. Thats it

Unless the Crytek people decided to improve textures, bump maps and things, PS 3.0 did have a better graphical improvement as well as performance. Theres lots of comparison screenshots around, i remember one where they had stone stairs under PS 2 and PS3 and the difference was far better.
