I was going to hold out and wait for the retail version (special edition), and just get CS: Source then. However getting CS: Source now is a real hard offer to pass up. So what I am asking what is the advantage of going with steam and vice versa. I know some but I want to get your guys thoughts first.

all i can say is that going the steam way is the right way!! its nice to play source and esae the pain waiting for hl2 to be released

NO! DO NOT GIVE IN TO THE DARK SIDE!

Old school retail stores beat unreliable constantly crashing, buggy, laggy system that may give your crddit card number to other companies!

Nov 5th is not that far away buddy just HOLD ON!

pass the time eating popcorn, watching movies, and playing other great games coming up!

I think its quite safe, so no worries there.
Just go ahead and buy it via steam ;)

lol, chicken... lol!
I ordered mine off steam and no troubles :) works better than great

You're more likely to get your credit card info stolen from some punk working at a retail store then online with VAVLe.

And either way, you'll be running Steam. Its not going to be less buggy. Steam really runs great,. its an excellent platform. They just need to get Friends working properly.

Advantage of waiting: A CD and a booklet
Advantage of not waiting: You can play CSS now, and for $10 more get DOD:S, HL:S, and access to any Steam game you might not already have.
