Do you think that they would have the medterminals and HEV suit rechargers lining the walls of the streets or something? Or maybe medkits like in TFC that are lying around.

I assure you the HEV rechargers will make an appearance somehow. I guess they'll have to be creative...

Yeah, what Zakat said.

This reminded me to have a quick run through the beta and you know what i realised? HL2 will so utterly and thoroughly rape everything that stands in it's way. I cannot forsee Doom3, farcry, painkiller or anything implementing all those awesome things that HL2 already has.

Good God. This wait is painful! :imu:

I agree with you about HL2 being seemingly more fun than Doom 3 and Farcry... But what features are you talking about? All I can think of is the really solid feeling gameplay... If you know what I mean.

There are healthpacks as in HL1. But knowing that there's an HEV suit, there *should* definitely be an HEV recharger.

Didn't it say in Boot Camp in Opposing force that you're able to recharge your PCV from normal sockets? I should imagine that the HEV would be the same

It's just a lot of little things that happen during the gameplay. I probably can't go into detail as i'll get banned. You keep encoutering them as you progress and you keep thinking "Oh this is mad...this is mad!!! wOOohoo!! OH NOW THAT IS COOL!!!"

The feeling is very similar to what i felt during HL1.

/me bets his life savings on this thread being closed/deleted.

Well, nothing that will totally ruin the game has been given away... yet. And I hope it stays that way.

I've been wondering whether the combine soldiers need to recharge those vests they wear, or if there's some civilian equivalent of the HEV that would need publicly accessable rechargers.

I just went looking for a site where I could d/l the beta. I found one (yay google). I could not bring myself to do it. It would just be wrong, and I'm worried about seeing too much too early.

Haha... people googling for warez always cracks me up.

What a good question! For once there's a thread which doesn't contain delay posts or moaners! I'd hope to see some kind of recharge, but in a novel way, like using the mains or something like that. Maybe Brian is right with the public rehcargers for ele cars or something like that which can be used.

Basicly everything that Halflife 1 had that made it fun. Doom 3 is a little to scarey for my likings, i mean its ok, but i hate walking really close to the wall all the time waiting for some man eating beast to just anilate(spelling) me. Not that Half-life is to much different, but at least its light in some places :) I did play the bridge map and there was some sort of health, and i believe it was the charger things. I dont want to really spoil anything, maybe they were temporary things. Who knows :naughty:

Offtopic: these forums have been dead of new info lately, God I miss those good old times when every day I connected in the web and there was fresh news about HL² , now , sadly we´re being kept in the dark......

Ontopic: perhaps medkits, or you may be using a upgraded version of the HEV that has self repair functions, haven´t played the BETA so there´s no way I can possibly know......

I hopeing for shits and giggles they have Kleiner or Barney climbing an electricity pole to hook up a plug for your suit.Like after a long point and before an important one.(Like when u prepare for Xen in the first one)

ive also wondered about this for a while, and i certainly want to be suprised how it will be done. so i want to stop reading this thread before i run into a spoiler, but with this lack of other HL2 news i know ill be back.

Nah, as long as you don't post spoilers I don't care, these stories only makes me more confident that the game is worth the wait :)

Mind if I tell you somthing cool you can do with a crane?

NO DONT !! thats a full spoiler, not just saying its the best game ever and you'll love it

prvt ryan was just saying that he liked reading how much people loved the cool stuff in the game and how it was making him more excited. he didnt mean that he wanted to hear a load of spoilers

No need to google, there's mIRC, which doesn't work for me for some reason because of FCC. It's preventing the download from starting, the box pops up after I accept but then it says connection failed.

I'd love to see gordon smash a light fixture and fiddle with wires to hook his suit to a power system. That would be cool! I am hoping for some diversity in how he recharges his suit. The whole game should have like 20 different ways to charge the thing. I think he should have a power kit that he would install in certain place so that he could syphon power from generators and powerlines. He should also have to boost vehicles with dead batteries. Use his HEV suit to jumpstart motors and all kinds of stuff. I was alos wondering if they were gonna make the wheels on the buggy pop. If you shoot a tire it's gonna pop.

As for health I think there are medics around that are in the resistance. there is a pick of a medic somewhere. Health sachtels and medics sound good to me. I would really like to see somthing creative for powering his HEV though. who knows it could be just like HL. Sounds boring to me though.

Hmmm, yes IRC would be the place to go if you wanted to know spoilers but on topic...
I don't think there will be an HEV suit. After all, Gordon isn't in Black Mesa anymore, so why would he still have the suit on? I'm guessing that the invasion of the combine didn't take place overnight so the game doesn't take place RIGHT after the first. But Gordons hands have an orange tint to it if I'm correct, so maybe he does still wear the suit. Hm, confusing. Yeah, there will porbably be some kind of recarge unit that the "resistance" uses and you could probably use the same rechargers that the combine use. The resistance probably made their own vests and made them compatable with the combine rechargers...I'll stop

Wait wait I got an idea, how'bout you get health through bashing the soda/candy machines with your meele weapon of choice then drinking/eating it and we get to hear a "Aaah" and then his health goes up?:D That'd be nice...

There have been pictures of Gordon with his HEV suit on.

You could do that in HL1 so I don't see why not...

But these ideas sound really cool, who knows what suprises Valve will bring us, and you know they will bring many. There probably wont be any HEV suit chargers, but maybe one in Dr. Klieners lab.

And someone posted a spoiler in this thread, I won't specify what, mods, if you are suspicious about this, send me a PM.

Medkits on the ground or something work for me...

I thought that was assumed... they probably won't look like the ones from Black Mesa... Maybe Combine medkits, or homemade medkits by the resistance.

There have been healers/medics in one of the screenshots. So I am guessing health is obtained that way.

Just a thought but perhaps those scanners that are flying around have batteries you could use in your H.E.V. suit. If my theory is true then it would add an interesting twist to the gameplay.

Your suit is low on power; if you try to gett batteries from the scanners you risk getting seen, and the scanners will alert more combine if your caught. If you choose to avoid the scanners, you won't get the power for your suit and are more vulnerable.

Personally I hate respawning enemies. They just make me tense and angry. It's not like real life when they keep coming in the same amount from no-where. Like I said before I would love to see some origenality on the charging of the HEV. I could care less about he health thing. What I would like to see is the ability to attach headcrabs on combine heads. I think if you are bold enough to grab a head crab with the manipulator you should be able to latch the thing onto a combine head. That would be seriously boss. Also an alien gas weapon that makes un-protected enemies choke on gas instead of shoot at you. I know the combine have gasmasks but It would be a cool feature.

Healing shmealing there is cooler stuff to talk about.

If there is cooler stuff to talk about then make a thread. This one is about medits, got it? Punk!?
No really, jk.
Omg picking up enemies and stuff with the manipulator will be awesome, like grabbing a manhack and using it's blade to slice through enemies!!!

Damn you Vegeta! *Shakes fist*

Seriously, don't spoil stuff, how freakin' hard is it to keep it to yourself?

What the hell?
Okay I don't know what I did but I'll delete it. Sheesh! ;(

I was joking around at first, but I was serious about the info you gave. No hard feelings dude, it's just that I wanted what you mentioned to be a surprise, but I accidently read it. No problem ;)
