looks absolutely fine to me

mine is lower spec and i hit full with np

i get 60-80fps

ok nice thanks mate i will wait a while till after xmas to order though maybe i can upgrade a little in the sales :D

I agree, your computer hardware is fine for running the game in high settings.

If it is at all possible, get a better graphics card, like an ATI radeon 9800pro or np if you can still find them.

The reason I say this, is because that card you have there is not true directx9. There was a huge problem with the geforcefx series cards based on the NV3x generation. DX9 Shader performance will be affected by this. This is not due to a bug, but simply NVIDIA's initial approach on the DX9 API. In other words, as HL2 utilises dx9, I would go with a card that could do that fully, especially since its a new buy so you want something that will at least hold you out for a year or 2 or even more. Unless you want to play HL2 without its dx9 features, where it still looks pretty cool but you lose some of the "high" quality that I presume you are referring to.

I dont mean to be the only one here saying "no", but I just had to point that out to you. So if at all possible, go with a better graphics card. :D

how much will the ATI Raedon 9800pro cost the card i a getting with my pc is around 80ish i think

Well, the rig in my sig slow down a bit in HL2, especially when there's explosions around...

Yea it's kinda sad how much it tortures your vid card... You velvety smoothness (less the occasional hard drive hiccup), you're looking at medium detail for what's in my sig...

For a 9800pro your looking at around £130. I thought I saw them cheaper but I just checked and thats around about the price, maybe I was looking at second hand cards. :)

Anyway, if your budget is 80 then this might be a bit too much :(
Might have to go for a 9700pro, or a 9600 (although all the ones I saw were 128-bit memory interface as opposed to the fx 5700's 256-bit interface).

Perhaps if you wait a little like you said then maybe you will not only have a higher budget but maybe the prices will come down aswell, who knows.

firemachine69, your rig seems to me to be more than adequate for high settings! What settings are you running the game at i.e. AA and AF etc. (maybe also make a new thread so this one isnt hijacked :))
