Yes the X-Factor is the American Idol of the UK.

I think it was originally Pop Idol but then kept on changing. To be honest, the quality of singers on American Idol far surpasses anything we get on X-Factor. Leona Lewis was alright I suppose, but last years winner was an uncharismatic Scot with the personality of a rock.
