I bought Ico a few weeks ago and finally got around to playing it today. But when I put it into my ps2, nothing happened. The game didn't load up, it didn't tell me there was an error with the disk, it just stayed on the main screen. I've tried it multiple times and it didn't work. I did some searching online and it seems that the original ps2 has trouble reading blue disks, including Ico.

So what are my options here? Is there a way for me to fix my ps2, or should I just buy a ps2 slim?

My friend bought Ico a little bit ago, but he is currently lending me his PS2. I'll ask him what he's playing it on. PS3 maybe?

That's weird, man. Ico should work on the original PS2, but sometimes the original PS2s do have a problem reading CD games. Did you buy it new or used? Is it the greatest hits version?

It would only read the discs while standing vertically.

I used to have a blue disc and I heard about the "tape trick". You just put 2 pieces of scotch tape on opposite sides on the top of the disc to balance the disc better while its spinning. Make sure they're even, same length, and that the edge of the tape touches the center clear ring. Research it and see if it helps you.

Ico works perfectly fine on my fat PS2.

The tape thing didn't work, but I'm going to keep looking into that as it's my best option right now.
