I was thinking that servers could join together once they get full. Say 12 vs 12 servers (or whatever size) would automatically initiate a mini-touney between all the current teams, upon vote or admins authority. The only problem is people coming and going. Perhaps they could add in a "find a sub for tourney" interface, where people post themselves in the "list myself as a sub for tourneys" interface. So, you could be in regular pub server, and suddenly get a little "bleep" alerting you to a server that is need of a substitute. Or you could just have a certain number of spectator spots, where people could be next in line for substitution. Or both mixed together: if no spec, then people need to find a sub... either the player leaving, or the admin/leader of the team needing a sub. The tourney could be simple elimination, where losing teams could continue to play for 3 and 4th position. I think this could be fun... no? thoughts ?
