You know they're working on it right now or at least will start in the next few weeks. What do you think it's gonna be?

Bear in mind it will almost certainly be for the next generation consoles (PS3, Xbox 2 etc).

I think they will either do GTA: Online or a next-gen reworking of Liberty City.

GTA online but if the game Mafia hadn't be developed then they probably would have had the next one take place back in a Chicago like city in the 1930's.

Lets San Andreas be released then I'll start thinking about this.

next gta should be gta:london on the ps3. rework all graphics and goodies ;x

Make it a PC release then port it to the gaystation 8 months later.

I voted Online GTA like an MMORPG. It would be nice and if properly done it could be massive. Then again, Rockstar lean towards consoles with GTA first so it probably depends how good these next-gen consoles could manage an MMORPG.

'something different'.. i'd like to see a GTA:'mob town', '30s chicago type. or gta:tokyo.. with like yakuza (not sure what the best time period would be for that). gta:london would be ok i guess. maybe they could do a gta:europe type game, where you're not just confined to london.. with some ronin type stuff.

something based in the '70s would be cool.

gta in present times like gta3, but done in vice city would own.

Something with monkeys. Maybe a spin-off from the Bobo The Monkey ad on one of the radio stations. Maybe you pogostick around the cities instead of driving... in fact... COPYRIGHT TM ME.

GTA: Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin
Muahah where i live! The crappiest place on earth!

GTA: Tokyo

complete with Yakuza and as a tribute to kill bill, have a "House of Blue Leaves" scene......

EDIT:Oh yeah. Don't forget the Japanese school girls! :naughty:

I don't know what will be missing from GTA:SA...but I think they're hitting the ceiling of the GTA-series unless they add MP - DM & Co-op. MMO GTA wouldn't work if you ask me. It wouldn't add anything except tons of people running around killing people...blowing things up...and just stealing cars for no reason. People that wanted to get something done (missions) would probably get blown up by a rocket or something before they came close to their destination. It would be complete chaos.

The only thing I see right now that they can improve are gfx and car mods that affect performance (only one now is NOS).

Tuning cars and MP, that's their only hope or maybe a diferent era, like gangster era.

GTA: London would be sweet assuming they could soak it with British humor and culture.

I would really like to see a new Intellectual Property. By the time GTA:SA is released, that will be the 5th (or 6th I think) in the series. Time to let it go.

Heh. Reminds me of the Liberty City survivor cheat from GTA3. It gave every civilian a random weapon and also made them attack everyone in sight or you could have them all go after you.

My friend and I would often drive about and make a game about how long we could survive without using health/armour. It was hilarious. You could be doing really well and you'd be driving along and all of a sudden 5 rockets would slam into your car.

BTW Wraith don't you think Badnarik sounds like the villain from Sonic the Hedgehog?

They have to go multiplayer, no question.

Hey, it's possible they'll make San Andreas multiplayer on PC (extremely unlikely, but who knows...)

There's only so much they can do until the regular old GTA idea is over, and have to go multiplayer.

They might be able to squeeze one more game out of the original series though. Like Tokyo or Hong Kong.

I do like having fun with that cheat too :) Good times.

I wouldn't mind a 16 player deathmatch mode. Although you can already get that with the VC mod.

When the new consoles come out, they will probably do Grand Theft Auto 4; since the other two recent games are technically expansions.

It would need a New Engine, and It should take place outside of American-based locales (Tokyo and London are brilliant ideas). Without these two things, it would be difficult to breathe life into the series.

The thing I fear about multiplayer would be that the game turns into RISK. Trying to take control of the city and rising to the top, is the main goal of these new games. If multiplayer was involved, I could see chaos, and not in a good way. But if Rockstar can manage to pull it off... :D

NOTE: If you read one thing in my post...read the bolded section. I want opinions.

I wouldn't call them expansions...but I wouldn't call VC a full-on sequel either. VC is closer to an expansion than SA. VC just added better gfx, more cars, bigger city, more missions and a few minor features. Just because it's in the same engine and they didnt call it GTA4...doesn't mean they shouldn't be separate games. I'd call the games more along the lines of..."Derivatives" of GTA3. They have the same style and feel of GTA3..but they each bring more to the table. I just don't think that because they have the same concept and they're in the same engine they are expansions.

I dunno about big MP games. I'd say 4-8 people would be good for map play. Restrict people to one city at a time. 4 people running around in SA would be too empty. It's 3 whole cities and countryside to boot...you'd need like 16 players in order to even run into another player every few minutes.

Game modes I think could work:

Juggernaut - Just like you've played in other games. 1 person is the Jugg...everyone tries to kill the Jugg and become him. Every car/plane/boat/bike you drive is stronger and has more hp. Your weapons do the same amount of dmg..but you have more hp/armor. You score points only when you're the Jugg. There are plenty of options for this. You could have weps do more..but have the same hp...you could be faster with unlimited ammo but still have a bit less hp...the list could go on.

Hunted - Sorta like juggernaut. You kill the prey to become him. As the prey you try to stay away from the other players until you hit a certain time mark. This could be fun having cool car chases and setting up little traps and such :)

Police vs. Gang -

Gang - The gang does as much dmg and cause as much trouble as they can before they die or before a certain time limit is reached. They have access to any weapons given they choose weapons with a limited number of points to spend (better weapons would cost more points...thus you would have less ammo and such). You could arm yourself with more armor...or maybe pool together for an armored vehicle for the team.

Police - You have access to basic equipment and cars at first. You can respawn when you die as many times as necessary. It could be based loosely off the wanted star system in the regular game where you get better equipment and resources to work with as the gang does more damage to the city/citizens/law enforcement. You can check your map for alerts as to where damage is being done. This way you can track down the gang while they are on their rampage. The more dmg..the easier if would be to find the gang on your map (could be like a radius of a few blocks if they're just killing a few people every so often...but if they're blowing tons of stuff up...it would narrow down to their actual location)

Once the gang is killed...their point value is totaled. Sides are switched and the cops play as the gang and so on.

What do you think? I just thought up this whole Police vs. Gang just a few minutes ago. I think it could be fun with 4v4 or something.

EDIT: Man...how fun would that be? You and 3 other guys in an armored humvee running away from a couple of cop cars, one with a guy in the passenger's seat trying to take out your tires. A guy in a helicopter above you with a spotlight on your humvee that would maybe slow you down or something (not realistic...but it'd give the chopper more importance - I suppose it could have a gun too :p ) and the other cop car with just the driver is trying to sideswipe you to spin you out. Your 3 buddies are shooting at the cop cars trying to kill them or take out their tires (with the new 4-man driveby's...this doesn't seem farfetched). I doubt anything this elaborate would find it's way into a GTA game for online play though. Ah well..I can dream can't I :E

i've got it...GTA: Ethiopia...'course there wouldn't be any cars...but it would be VERY challenging to try and hit the civilians

oh, god...i'm going to hell for that

Better gfx.. first person view while outside of a car. Ermm.. multiplayer of some kind. Thats about all I would want.

Multiplayer with bullet control, ala Chris Rock :D

Seriously though, it'd kick ass to be a cop on that :)

How about MP like Sven Coop? Each time you start a game you chose a preset mission and each person who joins has a predetermined role to play. Not fully coop, though. Maybe a select few players could be spectator until a certain goal is fulfilled, at which point they come into play as the cops or something. Idunno, use your imagination :)
