I can't believe that, considering the broad range of music tastes here, nobody has mentioned them, they've been around for nearly a decade and were recently voted 3rd best scottish band(belle & sebastian came first, travis second. snow patrol and franz ferdinand came 14th & 15th respectively).
They originally started out with a punk rocky sort of feel but have evolved towards a more softer, tune-ier sort of music. Its kinda hard to show you some of their earlier stuff buts theres a new album out soon:
