Now before I say my problem, I do have Mozilla Firefox and I use it for most of my browsing but some pages only work with IE. Well I downloaded IE6 adn began to install it, however it stopped me and it said that a newer version was already installed: closing install. However I uninstalled IE and its not on my system anymore. What's wrong?? Any help would be appreciated

i get 'invalid verb' messages when viewing pages with firefox, but usually just hitting refresh helps alot.
try getting it off your windows CD?

Check add/remove etc and see if you can uninstall whatever is on there already

You can't uninstall IE from windows. It won't let you

Either you got in there like a hacker and just deleted necessary files or you don't have windows

You must reinstall windows.

^^^not true

you can remove IE as a wndows component in "control panel>>add/remove programs>>add/remove windows components"

if you insert your windows xp disk i think you can install windows components in the same fashion, or use the "add component" thing in "add/remove windows components" - it should just ask for your disk:)

hm! I didn't know that!
Thanks

Well, I tried what you said and it worked, i was able to install IE from the disc, however it doesnt show it. IE still isnt in add/remove programs list, and its not showing up anywhere, on my desktop or on my harddrive

Thats a very strange problem you have there.
Try downloading IE6 again and re-install the thing.

I think removing IE in the first place is likely the cause of the problem. MS was forced to let you do that, doesn't mean they'd want to make it easy for those who did.

Yea. Well if you can't get it going, you can re-install windows.

I had problems before and couldn't get IE to work for more than a week.(A combination of things).

So I formated my harddrive, and told it to back up all my stuff, and finally I had internet access again. I was dyin'

New install of windows has its advantages and its drawbacks (setting everything the way you want it again)

I wouldn't remove any windows components. I can't see why with today's hard drive capacity. I don't think hackers likely can mess with IE if it's not running
