Iv herd from diffrent places that there will be three diffrent versions of Hl2 when it is realeased (before Christmas we hope!)
is this true? and if it is true... how stupid because when us (the customers) go and buy Hl2 and theres three diffrent version of Hl2 where gonna be standing there going eerm ? which one shall i get :dozey:

can someone shine some light onto this matter?

it's quite simple to chose. My understanding is that there'll be a singleplayer only version, a full version (multi and sp) and a special edition (comes with special box/free stuff, little mor expensive). It'll be easy to chose which you want/need.

the 3 version are:

Single player only (no MP / mod support) - generally targetted at the casual gamer. Upgrade to the MP / mod capable version is available via steam.

Single player + MP + mod support - this is the way you typically get a game.

Collector's edition - Single player + MP + mod support + extra junk like a tee-shirt or something.

The only thing new here is the single player only version. The other two versions are typical of all games.

That sounds right Dr-X. But there is also the matter of which will be DVD cds and which will be normal CDs. Perhaps Special edition shall be the only DVD ones.

but at end of the day this is one big marketing scam...just so valve can make more money out of us!
but i'm not complaining at all i know which i'll be getting when it comes out lol i'll have three copies of the Collector's Edition incase i might lose two of them on the way home

its a big marketing scam, you even say it yourself and yet you turn around and say your going to buy all 3? you must be daft , ill be buying the SP and MP version the others are pointless, a SP only version? whats the flippin point? money hungry fools

erm, the single player only is for those who dont want multiplayer. Meaning it will be cheaper than the multi/single one. Therefore valve actualy make LESS money.


Not that it matters cos they gona be rich anyways

they cant make LESS money you cant make money in negative, the more valve sells the more they make, valve make money no matter how much each version cost but now there x3ing their profits straight away, as I said money hungry plain and simple cash in

erm, those who buy the single player game only version would have had to buy the more expensive combined version otherwise. And you know they would have. So yes. Relatively they earn less. But they are not in it for the money. Trust me, they are rich enough as it is.
They still sell the occasional HL1 copy you know
