If This Doesn't Make You Cry You Are A Sociopath.

I'm torn between WTF and :(. I didn't cry but I came close to it.

On the brink of making me cry, especially because a kiwi is one of my favourite animals.

;(

EDIT: Why did I watch that? I won't stop crying... the poor bastard.

EDIT: 15:40, still crying

EDIT: 15:46, still crying

EDIT: 15:50, still crying

EDIT: 16:07 - stopped crying

my heart is colder and darker that the space

Yeah i saw this. Its very cute, and sad. Poor kiwi. Just wanted to be like all the other birds :(.

If this doesn't make you cry, you're a sociopath:

I guess I'm a sociopath. When the thing hit the ground, the *thud* made me lol hard.
And I'm not a dog lover.

they both touched me....I feel violated. STOP MESSING WITH MY EMOTIONS DAMN IT!

Poor bastard. D:

If this doesn't make you cry, you're a sociopath:

I can't even watch that, it makes me too sad.

Here's another test of sociopathness:

If that doesn't make you sick inside, you are a sick ****.

Actually, sociopath is probably not the right word, at least for the first video. A sociopath is somebody who disregards the laws and norms of society.

Insensitive would probably be a better word.

That reminds me of those bastards that dropped a cat from a 20-floor building. Sick ****ers...

But the cat would survive right?

And movies are just actors. And books are just words.

Do you only react emotionally to things that happen in real life?

Not everyone can suspend their disbelief in all cases. If you smash open a piggy bank do you react emotionally?

None of the videos here have touched me at all, really.

This touches me more than the ones posted here.

Apparently some of you don't quite grasp the concept of exaggeration.

Seriously though, Fry's dog is equally as sad. Pale Blue Dot is more moving than most anything really, not so much sad.

Also,to the people people whining about things that are old, shut the fuck up. Just because you've seen it doesn't mean that everyone has or it shouldn't be discussed.

Also, if this is incoherent I've had no sleep.

Fry's Dog! The part where he waits outside the pizza place for Fry got me welling up. :(

Even though you're probably right, I think using "insensitive" instead of "sociopath" wouldn't have the right "effect."

Poor dog :(

third vid made me wtf, then lol.

But the cat would survive right?

... Even if it landed on it's feet, it's legs would break. And all these videos are very touching, but I'm about to bawl my eyes out now, especially cause I'm all alone, and my mom went to Cuba for vacation. I'm all alone, and lonely... :(

a sociopath is someone who is allways socializing?

This thread requires more manliness and less feelings.
If this doesn't make you want to kill a small furry animal and wear it's pelt as a codpiece, you do not have a penis:

The Kiwi video made me cry, btw. ;(

Good thing the kiwi had flight goggles but wasn't wearing them. How do you get sociopath from that video? The kiwi made several very bad decisions, and apparently knew it, but still stayed the course.

edit - the dog video was a little more moving, but I was laughing too hard after the line, "Oh sure, smash the smart guy's machine." To see both of these memes done well, in my opinion, watch A.I. (which will make me ball like a little girl every time).

The kiwi knew it was a bad idea: not sad.
David believes he'll get his wish: sad. (and don't get me started on the bear, who I think knows there won't be a wish, but stays with David nonetheless).

Not everyone can suspend their disbelief in all cases. If you smash open a piggy bank do you react emotionally?

I see what you're getting at, but there's a very distinct difference. A piggy bank is still a lifeless, inanimate object. When words, images, or pixels are used as a representation of life, emotional resonance is entirely understandable. That's why the beginning of Little Nemo tends to punch people in the gut. That's why Schindler's List is heartwrenching, even though everybody is an actor. That's why the end of 1984 is tragic.

It's not just the characters and props used though, but the themes. I'm sure everybody has felt the desire to be something they're not, which was the subject matter of the first video. Anybody can relate to that. An animal-shaped money container just sits on its ass.

The entire "It's only pixels" argument seems to me little more than macho posturing. This idea that one's emotions, attractions, and interests are misplaced because something is digitally created doesn't hold any water IMO.

The piggy bank, in Krynn's statement doesn't symbolize anything, not even a pig. "It's only pixels" is a way of transfering this nonrepresentation to something representative (the metaphor). It's not sad that the image was rendered the way it was, the idea it conveys is sad. For example, if the piggy bank represented your younger brother's life savings that was smashed to feed a heroin addiction, that might be sad, not because the ceramic pig was destroyed, but because what it represents was destroyed.
