If you bought CZ not 4 beta tho

i just bought CZ, not for CS:Beta tho - i have to say this game beats the pants off the original CS.

just my thoughts, but what do you think of CZ but not for the beta?

It's much better than Vanilla CS. Textures, models, the maps, everything is much much better :)

Why.. are.. people.. buying.. CZ.. for.. a.. short.. beta.. with.. one.. map.. and.. limited.. functionality..

But yes, CZ > Vanilla CS. In every way. I don't care what others say, I bought CZ a month after it came out, and have loved it since. CS:S beta is a nice perk, that's all.

I think the bots are badly coded and the game is way too short. I don't think the game without the CS Source beta playtest was worth paying money for, and I think Valve knew this too. Sales were obviously pretty bad, but their 'CS-Sorce exclusive beta to CZ owners' tactics sorted that out.

Sales were NOT bad on CZ considering. They were on the top sellers chart for weeks after it came out.. why do people insist on that?

There's atleast 20,000+ people with CZ.

PPL want to play the beta to be popular and exploit the kicks of getting into a beta. and so they can say I PLAYED CS: SOURCE AND I LOVE IT :D

i bought CZ for multiple reasons.
A - my friends play it all the time - and i felt left out :(
B - i mite be able to get the beta of CS:S
C - ive always wanted it but never got a round to buying it

it is a awesome game and the maps are superb

It's not just about bragging rights you know.

i was always gonna buy CZ but never got round to it after hearing about the CS:S beta i made up my mind

I bought it because of 1.2 and the improvements it brought. CS:CZ is an awesome perk, however, even though I could have gone to the local Cyber Cafe and played there..

After hearing about the beta being available to CZ owners, i decided to buy it, i hadn'nt played CS for a few years, so i figured i'd give it a shot as it was only a tenner. Tbh, i was suprised to find CZ to be a very good game, (except for deleted scenes :p) but overall it was a good buy regardless of the CS:S beta.

20,000 would be a very disappointing sales figure.

I was thinking about buying CZ for the CSS beta, but then Doom 3 went gold. :)

Considering the product that it is, that's actually an exceptional amount of players. More and more every day too. And that was just an estimate. Plus, don't forget about the people who aren't on Steam with it..

I bought CZ for the beta before I knew it was just going to be 1 map.

I was really surprised how good it was though, I really like the new models, textures, etc.

I don't think 20,000 sales is really that good.

I don't think CZ is that great. The single player is pretty boring in my opinion and I don't really like what they did to the weapon/player skins and old maps in CZ. The only thing I sort of liked was the new hostage AI.
I still like playing vanilla CS better than CZ, but that's just me.

I wouldnt buy it jsut for a little sneek peak of css i would rather have the whole thing when ite releaced so i can see how it is to mysellf.

got to admit when i get CZ (ordfered it Friday get on Monday) i will never play vanilla again willingly.
every thing seems improved including the atsmosphere (spelling?)
nice little touches like the hostage ai,grenade picking up and of curse the reworked amps plus the all new ones. they all rock.

well if you buy cz you can also buy it because cz will also ported to the hl2 engine....

CZ is great. Been playing it for quite a few months now, every update the game just gets better. :D

Buy a CZ CD-Key off ebay, can get them for around $16 instead of $40 off steam.

Yeh plus i think the community is a little more mature on CZ so thats a plus for me :D

But for some reason it feels "better"

How legit/safe is a CZ key off ebay? 16 dollars is a much more reasonable price.

Well i dunno where he got 16 dollahs from mine was about 13

Just check the persons feedback and if their last items where CD keys and the buyer reported it ok, then it's pretty safe to buy.

I bought CZ first and foremost for CSS and because it was very cheap. If CSS wasn't included in the price (£10) then I wouldn't have bothered. CZ is amusing for a while, but once you get used to the tactics of the bots its not too difficult. The tasks you're given in the game are the most annoying aspects too (i.e. kill so many baddies with the shield).

I bought CZ specifically for CS:S £20 :/ but i like the CZ models... the maps look nice too but its just not CS (dont get me started on the singleplayer yea its good for training but playing on expert its too easy (even tho there are times the bots are constantly looking at you even when you walk sneakily behind them...))

You are nuts, CZ has probably the best bots ever created. Except for a few minor problems and idiosyncracies (trouble rescuing hosties sometimes, don't hurry enough when bomb is ticking, looks in the wrong direction when entering rooms sometimes) they're almost indistinguishable from human players. CZ bots are the cutting edge, they don't complain when you go AFK, and they will actually try to complete map objectives, unlike 80% of players you'll find on CS public servers.

I bought CZ recently and I love it, mostly because the bots are so good and the other players are more mature. After I've spend literally hundreds of hours playing CS for free, I hardly think 30-40 bucks is too much to ask for updated MP content and two fun SP games.

It's becomming clear that Valve intends to maintain two seperate CS franchises - the pay version (CZ) and the 'free' version. They'll both be ported to source, and the basic gameplay will remain the same between the two, but CZ will get content updates while CS will not. Makes sense - how can you justify paying coders and artists to work on a product that doesn't make you any money? With the revenue from CZ, Valve will be able to continue developing for it which will revitalize the community. CZ got off to a rocky start but I'm pretty confident it will be around for a long time and become the preferred game for any serious CS player.

I couldn't agree more. I've seen many people complain about the bots, but in my opinion I've never seen better. They camp, rush - pretty much everything, and as cowboy said they are pretty much indistinguishable from human players.

i just bought it the other day just for the beta :D

i must say it was worth the purchase though. i got it for £20 and it just makes CS a lot better. I used to think it was crap (and i still dont think its amazing) but you do get a lot of content.

today i completed all of deleted scenes, and i found some levels OK (;evel 3 was good, and cold ice) and others utterly shit (lelvels 1 + 2 put me off the first time i played.... WHY put the WORST two at the beggining???) Ill never play them again but they were fun whie they lasted. kinda...

and in some ways the new hostage AI causes more problems than it solves, as now they can clmb ladders and stuff, but in one day of playing CZ, 3 have got stuck. god knows how long i have been playing CS, and none have ever got stuck for me in that, unless of course youy take them in the sewers on millitia ;)

so for £20 i get revamped / extra maps, revamped graphics, CS bots + hostage AI, deleted scenes missions and a CS:S beta, which is really good value.

but i wouldnt have got it if it wasnt for the beta, because dispite all the new graphics etc. theres still hardly any servers, plus its hardly any different to 1.6. the beta just tempted me that one last bit ;)

One thing about the hostages I just do not understand: They're still dumb as s***. You'd think that in a game where bots can learn maps, perform mission objectives, work as a team, and mimic human players very convincingly that the friking hostages could follow you through a doorway without getting stuck on each other. Their new behaviors are great, I like how they will rescue themselves if given a chance, but their Follow behavior is still just as bad as ever.

I have been thinking of buying CZfor a while, the CS:S beta perk just sealed the deal.
CZ is better than CS I think. I can play offline when I get sick and tired of cheaters/glitch abusers. And Deleted Scene's is fun.

And hostages that actually run away after a while. :)

CZ is great, haven't even thought about standard CS since.

And btw I was wondering why anybody would buy CZ for CS:S too.

Then a short while ago I watched the 1st mecca vid.

Now CS:S is next to HL2 on my most anticipated gamed list.

I almost want CS:source as much as Half-Life 2

lol it'd be funny if someone made a mod where someone made a mod that gave hostages a modified version of the bot AI and gave them a knife. Then they would attempt to escape at random times and the T's would have to shoot them once to make them fall down at stay there for a while. Then after that happens too many times they all die and the T's win! :) well, there would be a lot of problems with that, but...

Bought it for the beta even though I got a HL2 voucher (Damn you Valve :p).

But its a decent game now since the recent patches. Plus I get to beta cs:s and play cz:source when it appears.

Good deal for £20.

I Did

I bought cz for the cs:s beta, 15$ is not a very high price to pay to play a kickass beta, and theres quite a few maps out now and its alot more fun to play than the old origional half life engine. And if i do get bored with it i always have cz and didnt pay hardly anything for it

i bought cz a while back before the beta was announced and i am glad i did because i only payed like $13 for it off ebay and it was an awesome update to cs... if you ever playn cs you should have cz and i dont know why you wouldnt...

More like one million, that's the last figure I heard about sales. There are about 10-15 thousand people online at peak times, maybe even more, so it's impossible that there were only 20k sales. I think Shuzer means that 20k people play it at the same time.
It's more played than any other shooter besides CS 1.6, beating CoD and BF1942. So not exactly bad sales eh?
