If you buy the gold package directly from Valve (steam) can you still preload?

I have had a hard time finding this out anywhere please dont guess, but I would like an url perhaps?

I want the gold package but I dont want to wait to play HL² for over a month to get it then Id rather take the standard version (so that Ill get the disc and a pack).

Half-Life 2 won't be released on Steam until the retail release if that's what you mean.

But yes you can preload, but not unlock Half-Life 2 regardless of your purchase.

Also you can unlock cs: source immediately.

Yeah Fisker_Q, but when you buy the gold package you get a box, and it doesnt say anything about you being able to unlock it on the steam sales page how ever it does say that it takes 4 - 6 months to reach you AFTER it has been released.

I know its free for anyone to preload it now but you will need a serial key to unlock it and Im not sure it this will be sent to you by mail before they send the box, that is my question

You will only get the box, without the CD/DVD.

It's still a purchase on Steam, you won't get a CD Key at all.

No it's locked to your account.

However if you pose yourself as Granpa Joey with 19 fraudulent credit card attempts you will loose your account and have to buy it again
