There's this place in Portland called the Fun Box Monster Emporium, and it's basically a pawn shop completely injected with geek culture of the past. They have huge collections of vintage video games, comic books, sci-fi/fantasy books, action figures (anything from Street Sharks to GI Joe to extremely obscure things) and random knick-knacks. I don't know what other big cities have for places like this, but I'd like to think these places are pretty rare.

I just bought Final Fantasy II & III (Snes) there a few weeks ago. They have the original boxed Super Mario RPG for $50.

Here are some pictures I took for my blog:

Oh man, that's awesome. There's this LAN center 20 minutes away from me, and it looks like they're setting up an old-school game room on the other side of it. I'm going to check it out as soon as it's open.

Wanna tell me a little more, Mr. Turtle?

*remembers trying to fit the broken hinges together*

You could've told me about this back in May before I went to Maine.

I don't think it was there back then. Opened up in June or July.

But you could have come to my birfday party and see me stuff cake down my pants!

Man the closest thing I can get to those epic stores around here is some lame collectable card shop, where the fat greasy guy hisses at you whenever you come in close proximity with the unopened R2-D2 thing.

And zombieturts, that place is pretty epic. For Maine however, Fun Box is pretty damn awesome. C'mon...IT'S MAINE!
