Agreed. If you know where to shop for parts and how to build your own pc you can make a near-top quality machine for about 1/4 of the price of high end alienwares or dell xps

Yeah, i have to agree that to spend 6000 USD on a pc would be a spectacular waste. You could build a very high end rig, with a 24 inch wide tft, mouse, keyboard, for around 1500 GBP, so around 3000 USD, whilst the rig alone would only be around 2000 USD. And all you would need to upgrade to keep in touch in a year or so time, would be a new top end graphics card. To spend 6000 would be insane.

invest your cash ..for $4000 more you could put a down payment on a house that hasnt been built yet ..one that's at least a year away from completion and the subdivision isnt sold out ..by the time the house closes (meaning it's finished and ready for you to take possesion) you can then turn around and sell it for at least 100% your initial investment ..after a year you've made yourself a cool $10,000 ..my brother in laws girlfriend did that ..by the time the house was built it had gone up by $40,000 ..she made $40,000 for literally doing nothing

I don't have that kind of money, and even if I did I certainly wouldn't spend it all on a PC, I'm just curious as to what your dream PC builds are.
