I saw this over at Filefront Hl2 site and thought it was a good poll, so here it is.

I wished for a larger variety of enemies. Though the setting really didn´t allow that.

I'd of added the ability to "grab" bullets...with the grav gun...like a temporary shield you'd put up...and any bullets to come into contact with it automatically enter a stasis field of some sort...floating and spinning there until you fire 'em back...kinda like a last ditch effort if you were to say, suddenly find yourself in a room full of gun toting baddies and nothing more than a mattress and pallet as cover/projectile...imagine a wall of 20 or more floating pieces of metal...waiting to be fired back: the ultimate shotgun... :naughty:

Add a few more chapters to streamline the final part of the game.

Better AI and what HeadCrabMolester said :D

(by better AI I mean enemies actually have to look for you/aim at you instead of knowing exactly where you are and hitting you before you even come around the corner...)

More levels, never want a good game to stop. Graphics were fine, AI was fine. I'm not a proponent of adding more weapons, as games with many weapons generally have some that are useless, at least HL2 did a decent job at balancing the weapons and giving the right tool for the right situation.

More explanation, like that slideshow scene. Why oh why was it cut?

LONGER. Mind you, Aftermath is due out in June, right? 8-10 months turnaround time to expansion isn't that bad! Also I'd probably die if Valve develops almost flawless streaming of levels (even if the CPU overhead will reserve it just for high-end computers) so that load times are minimal.

And screw you guys to whoever says "Better AI". Considering everything it can do, the AI is PHENONOMAL in this game. Even in terms of raw AI navigation and squad control, only Far Cry comes close, but HL2 further trumps by having a vast amount of interaction with physical objects, seamlessly integrating with scripts/"hint" events, and general flexibility (e.g. helicopter, gunships).

The levels we were shown in the bink videos :hmph:

Or

Better AI (better inteligents, movements, retreat, etc)

I'm a hardware junkie so better graphics are oh-so-tempting, but the thing I found myself yearning for most at the end of the game was more explanation (i.e. story).

The game didn't answer any of HL's really interesting question marks. I was all excited about getting that additional tidbit that explained something HL left grey... but then lead to even more interesting questions! With the exception of standing and repeatedly talking to a Vort, which I thought was a really lame plot advancer, nothing about the differing alien races and why they were fighting one another...and us, was really addressed.

The game still rocked, but if I could only choose one thing to improve, it would be more tidbits of info and development of character relationships (sources of those tidbits of info) progressively through the game.

I just wish the ending was harder. I remember fighting Nihilithak....that was really damn hard. Even when you figured out what to do. Other than that, a superb game that is my favorite game of all time (except for HL1...maybe).

Oh, and by the way, I just finished the game. I was blown away...did not expect what happened to happen. Very cool...and that "thing" Breen was talking to looked damn cool/scary.

God, I love this game. Off to play it and HL1 again.

EDIT: and MORE music would have been better. I loved the music they had, wish there was more of it. Anywhere you can get the seperate tracks?

Not on the poll, but I wanted headcrabs to have the ability to attach to allies' heads.

And more chapters of course.

I have the soundtrack. =p

AI... or at least giving them more health.... they just *died* so easily!

Longer would have been nice, but it felt pretty good anyway. I'll just quote one games reveiwer...

'for the first half of the story you sorta bounce around like a deadly pinball, getting serious doses of "Hmm, Gordon, It's not safe for you here anymore... tell you what, take this really dangereous way to the next checkpoint and we'll work from there.". But the second half makes up for it, with rebellion, rockets, and the One Free Man in the Driver's seat.'

-PCPowerPlay, as best as i can remember it.

I'd have to go with the better AI. The rest of the game was awesome but I was a tad bit disappointed by the AI's actions.

An actual sniper rifle, dammit! The crossbow is nice, but having a sniper rifle at your disposal in HL2, especially in those vast outdoors, would be a total blast.

There was one thing missing in HL2. Constant fear. I remember in HL1 around "We've Got Hostiles" (where you first run into the Marine shooting the scientist) and beyond I was in constant fear of dying (killing the Marines on hard was quite a task). For some reason, were easier to kill (or I was harder to be killed). Whatever the reason, I wish on Hard (which I played on) there were less ammo/health packs. I'm not a big advocate of making the enemies have 100000+ HP (which is the setting for a lot of games no "Hard"...I mean come on I want a grenade to kill a baddy in 1 good shot, no matter the difficulty), but just making us take more damage/hit and having less ammo/health would have been better. You would have constantly been walkinga round with 50 HP 0 AP. That would have indeed inspired fear of the combine.

I thought it would of been cool if they would have provide a slid show or scrap book at the end of the game of all the pictures taken of you (Gordon) during the game buy the Scanners.

Like at the theme parks when they take a picture of you just about going over the first hill. :O

Where the money goes :)
The only thing I would change..
The aim of the eneimes.
I love there tactics, I just wish they could hit me..

I'm like everyone else :

I want it to be longer and with better AI

I'd make the resistance have to pick up ammo or they'll run out (even faster when they switch weapons), there just so damn trigger-happy.

maybe more open-ended non-linear levels with multiple paths but that'd be asking alot tbh and the pacing and tight structure of hl2 lvls worked great whereas in fc at times the lvls seemed disjointed and overwhelming at times(still love fc though)

maybe a more satisfying ending although the story never particurly grabbed me,for me the story was the atmosphere, lvl design, environments.attention to detail etc,not what the gman says

better ai for the combine, use cover more effectively, use of stun-grenades woulda been nice, there were too many times(particurly on entanglement) when i would just run into a cell and shottie to the face the combine who would rather stupidly just come running in,a stun-grenade woulda worked for them there

overall i loved every second of it

For some reason this idea strikes me as immediately inventive and new! Wonder why I never thought of that one before. Really, it could be like the snapshots in Black And White. A kind of personal album.

Great idea, Sp00kyb0y! :)
