After several days of playing I finally "caught" the memory exception error. As soon as I opened CS: S it would crash to the desktop.
I was looking around in steam and went to the generic "favorites" under servers and joined a CS: S server to see what would happen. It actually loaded! Sure, my name was 'player' and all of my things were back to default, but it worked. Then I quit and tried to play the normal way and it worked! I just had to reset everything.
It's reasons like this that HL2 is still being tested after a month I bet. =/
SO: If you have the memory problem, try connecting to a CS: S server through the steam "servers" button.
