That huge version of the map? I really don't think that HL2 has as many poly's as that in Valve's tiny segments of levels.

Perhaps there are less textures to load?

Maybe. Valve's maps are much more trigger frenzied, as well, plus HL2's lighting, physics, and models are much more detailed and advanced.

It's not like one engine is better than the other, they each have their own purpose.

The only thing I hate is the physical server menu in BF2. It takes me a couple minutes to scroll through servers because the actual menu is loading that stupid TV on the top righ. My friend has a dual 6800's, 1gig of ram, and a p4 3.2ghz processor and his menu also takes a long time to get through. Every time I click "ping" to organize the servers it takes a while for them to organize, then when I try to scroll through them it takes like 10 seconds to scroll...its really stupid.

It's gamespy. There's not 1 game that it integrates well with. It froze H&D2 9 out of 10 times you tried to use it. It's frozen a couple of times on BF2 for me too.

I wish companies would just code their own, they'll sell loads of copies of this game, they don't need Gamespy's money.
