IGN Call of Duty 2 Review up

definitely getting this, now i'll have two games to play every year when WWII day comes around for me

Any game demo that runs like a pig full of bricks on a 6800 ultra means yet another unoptimised piece of kiddie bait is due to hit the shelves. Not going to bother.

"Many of you who grabbed the single-player demo noted that the game didn't run all that great. All I can tell you is that the retail version appears to have been optimized"

I guess wont be able to tell without more reviews

ran perfectly fine for me and many others and they've said it will be optimised for the retail release (read:cptstern post).

Same here, it didn't run all that well on my 6800 ultra, and my computer is in beautiful working order, so that was odd. But having said, it seems as if they may have sorted this for the full release, plus i loved the original, so i will definitely be buying it.

x800pro ran it like butter. Not an issue with raw power probably, more some kind of hardware specific problem with the demo.

P_to_P, not interested in the mp.

LOOOOOOOOOOOL!!11111s :D

WTF are you talking about? I've got the same card as you and I was getting a constant 60+ fps with all settings on high.

Anyway, I'm getting this game as soon as I manage to scrounge fifty bucks.

People like you and CR0M should give up pcs, get a console. Seriously.

yeah If they have it for 30$ or I can use my employe discount :D

I did some MP testing for this as well (I heart doing work for Activision)... :)

Can't wait to play the campaign! I'm excited about some of the battles because they sound pretty interesting!

Am I the only one that doesn't like CoD because of the scripts? I thought CoD2 will be different, but I played the demo... It's the old MoH and CoD script based game only on a new engine (the same as in MoH: PA if I'm not mistaken).

:/

You're not alone. I found MoH and CoD quite dull. The scripting doesn't bug me, though, the combat was pretty boring and very simple.

I found it boring because it was scripted (at least the way enemies appeared). And BTW, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, when in MoH I shot someone on a balcony and he, instead of falling on his back, decided to roll over the railing and fell down to the ground as if gravity suddenly pulled him 3 times stronger than usual. The script was meant to make it spectacular, unfortunately it looked lousy.:|

I hate to say it, but all games need a script and trigger boxes... If they didn't- it would be walking through a level with no enemies and just shooting your gun att he wall.... Scripts tell the AI how to react, when for enemies to spawn, when for next scene to load, what the objectives are and when you completed them.

Weren't IGN the ones pissing their pants everytime a screenshot came out.

They took this name from Band of Brothers. McCloskey was a real guy. Models look incredible by the way... just look at that guy's shovel.

I agree, games need some scripts to function. But look at FEAR. Each fight is different. You encounter enemies, they analyze your position, if jumping for cover through the window is logical, they do it, the script is triggered. If flanking seems a good idea, someone will flank. They will not do it everytime the same way.

Now look at Quake 4. Enemies jump out of the same place, no matter how many times you load the game and go through the same place again. No randomness. The same script triggered every time. Same with CoD 2 in most situations.
