The part that I found the most interesting was:

According to Product Manager Jess Cliffe, the designers took the 1.1 build of Counter-Strike, stripped it down to its barest essentials, and then imported elements piece by piece into the source engine. Along the way, they included features from every Counter-Strike up to the current 1.6 version and Condition Zero.

Looks like CSS has the best elements from all previous CS versions starting at 1.1 and on. Ohh yeah . Now it's seeming more and more like the good old days will be making some what of a come-back.
