IGN gives HL2 XBOX a 9.4

What a raving fanboy - I didn't catch why he didn't give it a 10, everything I read was positive with the exception of an admission that the console controls aren't as precise as mouse and keyboard.

Is he positive that the buggy is powered by a lawnmower engine? Does he realize that it's article #666?
 
well thank god...........i though HL2 wouldnt be that great on Xbox.........now i know i was wrong..........lol
 
Well, at least HL2 wasn't abysmally tarnished by being ported to consoles.

Its a slap in the face to put HL2 on a console.
 
Finally its on a console, now i actually have something to talk about with my console slut friends.
 
GAMEPRO Magazine gave it 4.5/5 which is pretty good. They showed some comparison screenshots with the PC version and honestly guys it's really not THAT big of a difference. It's missing a couple details and it has not anti aliasing so it has a lot of jaggies BUT it is compatable with the Xbox 360 and will support 720p Resolution and Anti Aliasing which means it should look a lot closer to the PC version minus some of the details. It will be at least a lot higher resolution like Halo/Halo 2 on the Xbox 360. I really don't see enough of a difference to call it a crap port and I plan on getting this game for the Xbox and playing it on my Xbox 360 when I get it in 9 days. It's really not that much difference from what I can tell and according to an article I read the Xbox version even supports partial HDR lighting which sounds weird to me personally but claims it has it.

On the Xbox 360 it won't be as low resolution as this and it wont have jaggies like the above pic. This is according to Microsoft's backwards compatability list. Now the textures are a bit low quality I will admit but with higher resolution those might at least look a bit better. None the less it looks like a pretty faithful port to me. I can't run the PC version of the game so this is alright enough for me. I have Doom 3 and the expansion for the Xbox and honestly they look very good on the Xbox. I played the PC version as well and it's really not THAT much better. Just higher res and maybe a few more details. I was happy with the Doom 3 and expansion ports so I expect that I will be happy with the Half-Life 2 port.
 
What annoys me most is the fact that my mate who hasn't played HL2 is probably going to get it on Xbox and will say HL2 sucks and then I'll say "It's probably better on PC.", then he'll respond with "lol I doubt it." Same thing happend with Mafia. :sniper:

A major part of HL2 was the graphics. Awesome, realistic graphics. To me, this takes a lot away from HL2.
 
It should look nice on the 360. A higher res, aa, and all on a big fat screen. Not as nice as the pc version, sure, but good enough. If the graphics make that big a difference thenit isn't that good a game in the first place.

It's good that other people are going to experience HL2 now :)
 
Kind of odd how there is no MP. You'd have thought they would have at least put in HL2DM for Xbox Live.
 
I'll never understand some people. This is great news. The more people who get to play HL2 the better.

remember that the forums here were busier before hl2 came out 0.o

Most console gamers have never heard of the Half-Life games.

I immediately agreed, but then thought

maybe not;

If creativity is Valve's passion then hell yes. If they enjoy creating the games, then it will only supercharge them.

But if money is Valve's passion then i think its better left more underground. For the sake of their games anyway.

I'd hate for Valve games to start getting uncreative and cookie-cutter crap. For example, the texture detail in HL2 is ****ing great. You can tell they never said, "hmm this texture looks passable"

I see this all the time in music. For example, their first album is ****ing sweet, but then after they get famous they start pumping out comercial CRAP, trying to appeal to everyone, but losing their soul in the process.

I am a fan of video games in general. Just becuase I favor a particular system doesn't mean I don't like other systems too!

Why are some of you people so angsty about this?

O NOES HL2 IS ON TEH M$ BOX OF DOOM, WE R GUNNA DIEE

Console gamers now get to play HL2. Despite some minor inferiorities in comparison to the PC version, it's still a good game. And what difference does it make to you? None, because you already own it on PC.

Where's the loss? Where's the big problem I'm not seeing? Somebody please explain this to me because I'm missing out on the bandwagon of hate.
 
Personally i have no real problem with it going on Xbox, though i would have expected/hoped Valve would have been a bit more innovative and included something like the orginals PS2 conversion with a new Co-Op mode.


Meh, should have released it for Xbox 360 imho.


And yeah, the review seemed a bit fanboyish to me too
