Lit Fuse Films have released what I believe is the first non-Valve made piece of TF2 Machinima known as Ignis Solus. This is what they have to say about it.[br]
It's new movie day. Today's film is a piece by the title "Ignis Solus". You can check it out here. . Ignis Solus is latin and roughly translates to "burn alone". This film is a bit of an experiment in Improvised machinima, and I'd like to think we managed to get something worthwhile out of the attempt. Also of note, as far as we can tell, this is the first machinima produced using Team Fortress two that wasn't made by valve. If you enjoy the video, please, take the time and head on over to Digg and give the video a vote. It only takes a minute to register, and voting for us can mean an additional 10,000 to 50,000 views. every vote counts.
Why not check out the team behind this Machinima here and check out the Machinima itself here.

Okay, seriously, what the hell was that? They showed a running pyro with pre-made voice files.

Did you not watch it all?

That was in my mind a great piece of art

That was neat.
Had some cute parts and a couple of funny bits here and there.

The music was very well done and gave the film a bit of Pixar touch.

If I never saw TF2 I will think is a trailer of new Pixar movie o_O

Decent machinima - mostly because TF2 is so damn pretty - but I would almost say this isn't newsworthy. The fact that it's the first TF2 machinima means absolutely nothing at all, and beyond that it's not really that great...

D:'s in the face on Ennui's words of D:

I don't quite know how they managed to spin that out to 8 minutes, because I ended up skipping through the second half through sheer boredom. If you're waiting for it to load, just close your window now...

I was wondering who will be the first one to create TF2-based machinima. I'm glad Lit Fuse Films picked that one up. They always make top-notch movies. Edit: Top-notch technically. Not always great when it comes to story. This one had some nice moments, but it was kind of... empty from time to time. Well, not bad as for the first TF2 machinima out there.

I liked it a lot and it did indeed look beautiful. It made me think of those moments when you join an empty clan server and wait around for others to turn up, and they gradually trickle in. Music was good as well.

This reminds me of myself when I first tried TF2 (alone).

Looking around with a flamethrower while yelling stuff.

Briliant.

I thought that was excellent. Very well made. Surprised at the quality of the visuals as well. If I upgrade will it look that good for me as well?

Why so much hate? I, for one, found it very good. My only complaint is that it was a tad too long-winded. I was impressed by how they managed to say a story (and a rather good one judging by their previous works on that department) while imposing all those limitation to themselves. I'm still debating with myself whether it would be worth it registering on Digg just for that, though.

I think was a very good film. It was certainly one of the better ones I've seen come out of LitFuse. Most of their films tend to be long and not very funny, but this had the right amount of humor and artistic feel. It wasn't a riot, laugh-out-loud, but I had a couple of chuckles.

Hah, I loved it. It was... sweet. The music contributed to the light-hearted atmosphere a great deal, and it actually had me laughing at numerous points (not because the video was that funny, but because it brought back memories of the kinds of silly things I've done on empty servers).

Still, at 8 minutes it was a bit long. It could have easily been edited down to half that.

That reminded me of one of those Pixar-short films you got before the feature presentation, albiet not as short. Thought it was excellent, though.

One of the biggest problems with machinima, IMO, is the terrible/unnatural voice acting. RvB is about the sole exception. This avoided that problem.

Besides, if you don't like it cause it's artsy, it just means you're not Indie enough. ;)

man some of you have extremely short attention spans, I thought that was great ...there's something to be said about subtley

Yeah, surprised at the low attention spans of some people. It was somewhat artsy and the music to go along with it was fantastic, it suited it so well.

Most Machinima tries to emulate humorous red vs. blue situations where this one just went somewhere else entirely.

Nice video.

I loved it, like the rest of the LitFuse films. I wouldn't change a thing. Now, War of the Servers may have carried on too long. I enjoyed it immensely, but in place of many of the "he continued scouring the blackened servers" bit they could have easily put in seperate exposistions that described different characters and the effects that the war has had on them. I hope to see them do another full-length film of that quality though.

This though, I just loved it. Everything was described without the need for words, a rather difficult thing to do.

Why did I feel sad for the Pyro when he was alone at the end and beginning?

I liked it. Made me giggle a lot. Makes the poor pyro feel unloved. /me gives him a cookie.

I guess they are only amatuers. Would be interesting to see what they come up with if they had the chance to use proper actors.

As it is though I think these films are very creative & it's fascinating to see what people come up with using Source games as the .... source material. Film & animation, comics. As this ever been done before to this extent with a video game?

As an artist you gotta know when it's cutesy and when it's just getting boring. Practically 80% of the individual shots in the film were a second too long, so in my opinion (contrary to their usual quality) the editing on this one isn't tight enough, whereas (contrary to their usual quality) the story was a lot tighter.

yeah but you have to understand that they have to fit the timing of the actions and scenes with the music, especially as this has no dialogue and they're using music that wasn't made for this pruduction.
