EA has signed Ikea on to bring their trendy, self assembled furniture to The Sims 2 this summer...

?Players of The Sims have asked for IKEA by name, and if you look at the living spaces they design, it reflects the style of IKEA,? said Steve Seabolt, Vice President Global Brand Development for The Sims.

Look for the new add-on pack in the US on June 23rd, 2008 and in Europe on June 27th, 2008. The cost will be $19.99 USD and $14.99 EUR.

wow, $19,99 for a catalogue of Ikea products. that shit should be free ..oh and EA = whore for anyone with $

who's preordering?

"Every Sims 2 The IKEA Catalogue preorder comes with a virtual screwdriver/wrench and a bag of miscellaneous nuts and bolts for when you inevitably lose a part during assembly of IKEA furniture"

Ka-Ching!

EA pulls the lever again on The Sims slot machine which always pays off.

I used to play this game. I always got bored and ended up cheating, building a nice house, and setting my Sims on fire.

Basically, this is going to make more money then the orange box, mass effect, bioshock, mirror's edge put together.

I didn't think they were doing any more Sims 2 expansions/item packs any more tbh. I'm quite surprised this was never broached before now. Certainly a cash cow for the EA, but I'd say the demand amongst Sims players for this sort of thing is pretty high tbh.

tbh, any one of us would do the same if we made the sims :P

Sims isn't a bad game, played it a while ago with some friends, put ourselves in there and hilarity followed, especially when two fo my friends turned gay. Ha.

I wont be getting the expansion pack, mind.

I like the Sims 2, it's nice change of scene every now and then. I usually have a blast on it every couple of months for a week or so until the need to shoot things takes ove. I might well get this as I could do with some appropriate furniture for my ultra modernist houses. ;)

Lol

But yeah I liked the Sims 2, I never played played the default families, too much ****ing hassle, I always made my sims, cheating ladies man ftw. I then got sick of my crappy house and used cheats to build a mansion. I also created families from games so I had Harry and Heather Mason from Silent Hill and Agent 47 from Hitman lol.

Then I thought about what i was doing, buying wallpaper, thinking what tiles would like nice in my bathroom etc so didn't go back D:

The Sims is a lot of fun for a couple of months, but then it gets boring. The reason it's the best-selling game of all time is because it's almost the only game that girls play as well.

I always wondered what type of gamer plays The Sims, I know its apprarently a girl's favourite but are there blokes that play it regularly?

Apparently you did :D Thinking about what tiles to put in your bathroom, tsk tsk.

The Sims was only fun in a (slightly) sadistic way.

I bet I'd be hooked if I was playing online with a girlfriend or something.

too bad the graphics aren't photo-realistic :naughty:

I said hooked

I take it that i'am the only one here thinking about getting this then.
Seems good and i like playing the sims, might get it cheap like i've done with the rest

The game is fun to play every now and then, for a change of gears. I've never purchased the game, and never will.

Yeah this.

I know a few people who are obsessed with the damn game, and probably screamed in delight when this was announced.

This is so stupid and ridiculous i don't know what to think? Great business move>>?

The Sims is good in short bursts, you can't just play it forever, but you can play it for a month, put it away for 2, then go back, then it's fun again.

I made the mistake of selling my copy, and I want it back so bad right now.

People usually end up trying to be serious, but then they get so far in the game, and get ****ed over somehow, so they always end up cheating and killing everyone or something..

I remember I tried to make a nice family, I built a small house with all the necessities, they had a baby, life was grand, then the wife starting getting irritated and started yelling alot, they fought all the time, baby pissed everywhere, social worker came, took baby away, wife left husband, I made husband into crack-head, sold all his things, put a couch, stove, etc on lawn, and he lived out his days, then died one day.

It was hilarious.

The Sims is fun for making houses...and cheat codes.

yeah, I played it once.
