I'm a newbie at making avatars..please help!

I admit it..I can't even make my own avatar...

I can use programs like auto cad 2005 and 3DSmax and Maya and Photoshop..BUT I CAN'T MAKE AN AVATAR!! :x

Could someone help we with the steps??

I really want to make my own...also how do you make an animated avatar..out of curiosity??

You need a program that costs money to make animated gifs

Use paint to make cool avatars, though.
