Hey, y'all. I guess this is counted as advertising, but we're non profit

www.halomarathon.com

Me and 2 of my friends are going to be playing all the halo games straight for 3 days (72 hours) and we are looking for views / donations. We origionally were gonna do HalfLife, but then we realized that HL1 was PC and that complicated things. So we're doing Halo instead.

It's Halo. No.

I feel disgusted that one with your name would do such a thing.

There is a possibility that I may donate

Yeah, who does he think he is! Helping a childrens charity, what a rotten bastard!

Do you sleep?

I probably won't donate as I'm a selfish (mostly poor) bastard, but it sounds interesting.

Just BTW, I'm one one of the 2 friends. We were gonna do a HL marathon, but it was getting too complicated. We may do that in the future though.

Do like 10 speedruns of games that last 4-6 hours.

Now THAT would be interesting!

Why don't you guys do a TF2 playing marathon.

Maybe System Shock 2.. Deus Ex.. Most new games are built to prevent speedruns, so it'd be mostly old games.

I'd love to see a Commando (1 or 2) speedrun, that'd be awesome, as some levels in those games can literally take 3 or more hours to beat.

......Why the f*ck would you do that?

Yeah, me, Emp and a couple of other guys organized a big Halo 3 tourny as well to raise funds for schools in Africa. Epic custom assault matches were had :D

How does it actually work though? The money raising part.

We used an online application called ChipIn that lets you keep track of the amount of donations made to a certain Paypal account. For the Paypal account, we entered the Child's Play direct donation account e-mail. If you go on our website, you'll see the little donation box in the right corner and when you press ChipIn, it takes you to Paypal and asks how much you'd like to donate to Child's Play Charity.

God I can't imagine how boring that would be...

What the hell is wrong with you guys, you're acting like the game they chose to play is important.

Personally I think it's great and would donate if I had a paypal or money to put in the paypal.

Thank you Lefty. You should know by now that everybody here is an insensitive asshole (but I mean that in a loving way)

Hey, I thought the same thing - I was trying to support/defend you guys.. I'm just poor so I can't directly donate. :(

EDIT: So there are 3 of you and 3 halo games? Are you each playing different ones at a time, or each playing 1, each playing 2, then playing 3?

Like are there 3 TV sets each one has Halo 1 running, then when you finish you go to Halo 2, etc, or are they different from the start?

You can always sell your PC, guitar, amps, and RUSH shirt. :D

See? There's still hope you can give for the children Dog.

If helping dying/poor children requires me to sell my PC - ok (still, it'd have to be atleast 10 children, and I'd have to have a guarantee the money would actually save their lives, I know alot of charities are assholes like that and spend your money on stuff that's not for the children).

If helping dying children requires me to sell my guitars and amps - ok (same as above but it'd have to be upped to about 50 or so children)

If helping dying children requires me to sell my Rush shirt - they can die.

I still don't really get this.

You're marathoning games... and basically hoping that for some reason, people will donate money?

It's just like running a distance for charity, or a charity concert. These things are free to do and see, you don't have to donate, but the contestants do these things to bring attention to the charity, gather 'crowds'. You probably weren't thinking of anything to do with charity before this thread, were you?

I will probably donate, just reading up on Child's Play since I've never really looked into it before.

The most I've ever done for charity is donated clothes to the Salvation Army.

You would have donated your house if the Salvation Army invaded Goodwill in a bloody battle.

I've been to a Goodwill before around my area just to see what kind of goods they had on offer.

:P

The will was there, but there was no good. Srsly, the nicest thing they had in their warehouse was the bathrooms.

And if it ever got so bad for me that I had to resort to buying used underwear, shit just steal a pack from Wal-Mart already.
I'd rather free-ball than to buy underwear that's used with skids on them.

Your lack of human empathy is astounding.

No. The contributors lack of human empathy is astounding.

They don't want to give up anything that is of remote value, so they give away used underwear. wtf.

We have 1 TV set-up. We're gonna rotate play, maintaing donations/chat and sleeping.
