Im depserate, help

Heya all, I was playing halflife 2 on a normal day when i decided to have a look in the Video Config. I went in under advanced and as my eyes pierced through the menue, They came across the Antiascalering thing, (not sure how to spell). I clicked on it and changed it to x6.. MY game goes boom and i end on my desktop.

Everytime i try to get in again, this error shows up ________________Engine error__________________
Failed to lock vertex buffer in CMesDx8::Lockvertexbuffer

.. I tried to reinstall halflife but it still shows the same. PS i didn't reinstall steam if that might help?... I can't get into the game to change it back to normal lol.. Please help. Im desperate ..

Ok i just tried to uninstall steam.. It did not work either ... ;(

Because HL2 uses an animated 3D background on the main menu , and your 3D settings are wrong, you can't get into the game. Clever of Valve, eh? You can try loading the game without the 3D background, though.

In your Steam games list, right click on Half-Life 2 and choose "Properties" and then left-click on "Launch Options" and type this in:

+map_background none

Hopefully, that will load up the game and allow you to adjust the graphics options down again.
